Wondering if Final Fantasy 16 will make its way to PC six months after its release on PlayStation 5 (PS5) on 22nd June 2023? Confused about the game's platforms? Well, you are in the right if you don't feel as if a PC version has completely been denied.
This article explains the Final Fantasy 16 platforms and why people are rightfully confused about a possible PC version, alongside comments from the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida.
Final Fantasy 16 PC Version Confusion
Some fans have thought Final Fantasy 16 might release on PC six months after the game's release on PS5. There's a very, very good reason for this thinking, as seen in the image above.
We screenshotted this image via the Final Fantasy 16 "REVENGE" trailer released on 9 December 2022. The trailer states: "Not available on other platforms until 12.31.2023". This did indicate to fans that Final Fantasy 16 could release on other platforms after the date in question.
Since the trailer from Square Enix does have this line in, and the original reveal trailer from the PlayStation Showcase back in the day said, "Also available on PC," fans have every right to be confused.
Final Fantasy 16 Producer Says "Buy a PS5"
Industry Insider via IGN, Genki, recently published a video clip from NicoVideo.jp where the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida, denied that anyone said a word about a PC version of Final Fantasy 16 releasing.
The translation, as per Genki (and verified by IGN), reads:
Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is releasing 6 months later? Don't worry about that, buy a PS5! (laughs) Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best so please look forward to it.
If you can understand Japanese, you can check out the clip below as well.
Yoshida could mean that if you want to play the game on release, then PS5 is your only option. It could also be that it is about sales, as "don't worry about that" might indicate you shouldn't wait for Final Fantasy 16's PC version and rather buy the game on PS5 on 22 June 2023.
What Platforms Will Final Fantasy 16 Launch On?
This one is easy. Final Fantasy 16 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 (PS5). That's the only confirmed platform at this point. There's no indication, except for the confusion explained in this article, that the game will release on other platforms.
To speculate, we might still see Final Fantasy 16 released on another platform sometime in the future. Your guess is as good as ours as to which platform it might be.
So there you have the confusion about Final Fantasy 16's PC version and platforms explained, alongside comments from the game's producer.
We will endeavor to update this article if anything changes. At the time of writing, there's no official comment from Square Enix regarding Naoki Yoshida's comments. Watch the latest Final Fantasy 16 trailer below, until the end, where it clearly shows the game is a PS5 exclusive until 31 December 2023.
