The English Football League Team of the Season in FIFA Ultimate Team is a regular supplement to its big brother, the Premier League TOTS, and this year will be no different.
It’s made up of the star performers from the Sky Bet League Championship, as well as from Leagues 1 and 2 and gives a huge chance to make some previously underpowered players good enough to put in your team for the Weekend League.
Read on for all the information you need to know about the upcoming EFL TOTS.

When Is the EFL TOTS Released?
While not officially confirmed, all signs point towards the team being released at 18:00 BST on 7 May.
This will mark the second minor league TOTS to be released, following the Eredivisie TOTS. The EFL TOTS will be in red picks for the following FUT Champions Weekend League, with certain ranks offering player picks containing minor league TOTS cards.
How Many Players Will Be Included?
If the Eredivisie is anything to go by, not many. That team only contained 9 players, with one extra card being available as an objective reward and two further players released as an SBC reward.
We’re going to stick to predicting a full eleven players for this team, with the hope that EA will be a little more generous this time around.
With all that out the way, let’s get into some of our predictions.
FIFA 23 EFL TOTS Predictions
Defence
GK Lawrence Vigouroux
Leyton Orient’s title-winning season was built upon the best defence in the league, and as a result it’s only fitting that their goalkeeper receives a TOTS card for his efforts.
RB Connor Roberts
The Burnley right-back has already put himself on EA’s radar with two Team of the Week cards this season. A highly-rated Welsh Right Back might be perfect for those of us still trying to get that 93-rated Gareth Bale in our teams.
CB Carl Piergianni
It’s rare for a player to be made captain in the same season that they sign for the club, but when a player with Piergianni’s experience signs, it’s almost a no-brainer. The Stevenage centre-half has almost reached double figures in goals this season.
CB Ricardo Santos
An incredibly solid centre-back for Bolton, we have a feeling Ricardo Santos will make a very popular choice in players teams. His 80-rated inform was already a hidden gem with his 99 strength, so imagine what he’d be like if EA decided to put his pace up to 90…
LB Leif Davis
Ipswich Town have seen themselves promoted back to the Championship this season with an incredibly talented squad. Leif Davis has been a young highlight of the team, with 14 assists from the left-back position.
Midfield
CM Barry Bannan
Yes, *that* Barry Bannan. Still turning in quality performances for Sheffield Wednesday even today, he could make it back-to-back years with a TOTS card at 33 years old.
CM Josh Brownhill
The second Burnley player on this list, and for good reason too. Under the leadership of Vincent Kompany, Burnley won the Championship and earned promotion back to the Premier League, with Brownhill as the heartbeat and captain of the side.
CAM Alex Scott
Voted the EFL Championship Young Player of the Season, Scott’s performances have got every team in the country talking. Expect him to get a nicely rated TOTS card, and then a big-money move to a top club this summer.
Attackers
RW Amad Diallo
The Manchester United loanee has fit right in on the right wing for Sunderland in the Championship, with his sheer pace and skill quickly making him a fan favourite. If EA reflects that in his stats, we imagine he’ll be a FUT fan favourite before long too.
ST Andy Cook
While it’s a season too early for any of Ryan Reynold’s Wrexham players to be receiving a TOTS card, there are players already in League 2 that deserve a spot, with Andy Cook definitely being one of them. His 28 goals in 45 games so far puts him head and shoulders above everyone as the league’s top goalscorer.
ST Chuba Akpom
It’s safe to say Akpom’s dominant season in the Championship took everybody by surprise. After all, the former Arsenal striker hadn’t scored more than 8 league goals in a season before this one, which is why his 28 goals in 36 games not only deserves a TOTS card, but the highest-rated one of the lot.
