Dominique “SonicFox” McLean has been added to Skullgirls as a non-playable character.
SonicFox, known as one of the world’s best Mortal Kombat, Injustice and Dragon Ball FighterZ players (along with being a furry), posted a clip on Twitter showing the blue fox as a background character in the Class Notes stage.
On the Class Notes training stage, a character called Mrs. Victoria usually stands next to the blackboard - although it seems SonicFox is now taking charge of lessons.
It’s unclear if SonicFox will make an appearance elsewhere in Skullgirls, although they also showed off a new stage and character colours set to arrive in the title too.

SONICFOX IS FINALLY AN NPC IN SKULLGIRLS! AAAA IM SO HAPPY pic.twitter.com/GO2fV2yNi1
SonicFox previously won a Skullgirls tournament at EVO 2015, with the title now set to have a big role on the EVO Online 2020 line-up alongside Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.
This added promotion with SonicFox is certainly a fun way to attract more attention to Skullgirls, which often goes overlooked in comparison to the big name titles within the FGC.

So could this pave the way for more fighting games to include its pro players? Punk in Street Fighter V? MkLeo as an assist trophy in Smash Ultimate? The possibilities are endless.
Skullgirls is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android.
