Far Cry 6: Best weapons, how to unlock and more

Far Cry 6 boasts one of the franchise’s largest and diverse weapons we have seen to date. Having the best weapons at your disposal can change how you tackle the game’s quests and challenges but also how one plays the game.

Finding all of the game's weapons isn't easy, though, especially the best ones, with Yara a daunting place to find just about anything due to its size. We’re here to help as this guide will reveal not only the best weapons in Far Cry 6 but also how you can get your hands on them.

Best pistol in Far Cry 6: Pistola Sportiva

The Pistola Sportiva may not be effective in dealing adequate damage; however, what it lacks in lethality, it makes up with its precise handling and its rapid fire rate. Furthermore, adding to the weapon’s impressive fire rate is the Blast Rounds mod, great for blasting through enemy armour and helmets as well as bulletproof windscreens.

• Blast Rounds: When equipped, can deal explosive damage within its area of effect (AoE), which can be used against vehicles
• Fast Reload: Significantly improves the weapon’s speed reload
• Nimble Shooter: This mod enhances the weapon’s mobility while aiming

This pistol can be found in West Lado around the El Maraton Field. We would recommend using the Pistola Spotiva as a sidearm in your loadout.

Best Resolver Weapon in Far Cry 6: La Varita

Possibly one of the game’s most overpowered weapons, La Varita, is one gun every player needs to have in their loadout. By default, the weapon has exceeded its damage capacity, dealing an excessive amount of damage to plenty of enemies, armoured and unarmoured.

When paired with its companion mod, the Triador Supremo, which has the Truesight ability, allows the weapon to see and blast through walls. It has a decent short to mid-range accuracy and an impressive firing rate as long as players can land a decent shot.

• Scorched Earth: Dead enemies leave behind a “sticky fire” in the area of effect
• Killer’s Covenant: In Triada Mode, headshots refunds ammo
• Falcon’s Eye: Triada optic zoom level is increased
• Triada Supremo: Its Truesight ability locates and marks enemies even when in hiding

Both can be found by completing the Triada Blessings quest, which requires players to embark on a treasure hunt to collect the Triada Relics. Players are to be on high alert as a certain panther will spawn in this area.

Best rifle in Far Cry 6: SSGP-58

Players will be hunting for an all-rounder weapon that has a high firing rate and handles incredible well, especially in mid to long-range distances. The SSGP-58 rifle gets better when upgraded with specific mods and attachments, as this standard rifle becomes one of the game’s more intimidating weapons.

• Armor-Piercing Rounds: these rounds, when fired, can deal damage to helmets, body armour and armoured vehicles
• Large Rectangular Suppressor: decreases weapon sound and weapon overheating while improving its range
• Tactical Sight: increases the mid-range accuracy with its 3x scope
• Canted Reflex Sight: for short-range accuracy
• Laser Pointer: while firing from the hip, enhances bullet velocity
• Trigger Discipline: aimed weapon damage increased
• Headshot Supremo: grants bonus Supremo energy with every headshot

To find this rifle, players won’t have to travel far to acquire it. The SSGP-58 can be found in military-controlled zones or purchased from the Guerilla Garrison at any Guerilla Camp.

Best SMG in Far Cry 6: MP7

Featured in many shooter games over the years, Far Cry 6’s version of the MP7 is quite powerful and handles surprising well. With a blistering firing rate of 950 RPM and accuracy that surpasses other weapons in its class, this submachine gun is equally devastating and lightning fast when firing.

• Blast Rounds: when equipped, can deal explosive damage within its area of effect (AoE), which can be used against vehicles
• Resolver Suppressor MK. 2: decreases weapon noise
• Resolver Reflex Sight: Increases mid-range optic
• Headshot Supremo: grants bonus Supremo energy with every headshot

Like other standard SMGs, the MP7 can be purchased from the Guerilla Garrison at any Guerilla Camp.

Best LMG in Far Cry 6: Crackle and Pop

Looking for a weapon effective against helicopters, vehicles and fortified defences? Crackle and Pop is the perfect weapon for obliterating targets within seconds.

Without any attachments or mods, the weapon is great for mid-range attacks, has an adequate bullet velocity and has a large magazine size. This menacing LMG is relentless in firepower, with its firing rate of 700 RPM dealing further damage when paired with the Blast Rounds mod.

To acquire the weapon, travel to the town of Esperanza. Immediately players will notice that this town is a no-fly zone, so you would have to access the town by foot or with a vehicle. Search for the El Rayo Cinema across the street and rappel onto the rooftops for a contraband chest to find the weapon.

Best sniper rifle in Far Cry 6: El Tirano

Another overpowered weapon on this list, the El Tirano, is considered by many to be the game’s best sniper rifle outperforming many weapons in its class. Thanks to its high precision accuracy, larger magazine and its one-shot-kill capabilities, the El Tirano has become an instant favourite with players.

• Armor-Piercing Rounds: these rounds, when fired, can deal damage to helmets, body armour and armoured vehicles
• Small Advanced Sniper Scope: improves accuracy with its 10x scope
• Large Muzzle Brake: horizontal recoil and muzzle flash are improved
• Extended Mag: for larger magazine size
• Fresh Clip: once the magazine is reloaded, the first shot deals enhanced damage to targets

The El Tirano can be found in the Valle De Oro region at Escila Fort, which is a restricted zone. Head on foot, drive or use a water vehicle to travel to the lighthouse, use the grapple hook and climb to the top where the weapon awaits.

Best shotgun in Far Cry 6: RMS-18

The RMS-18 is a great shotgun for firefights at close quarters, especially with attachments and mods improving the weapon’s stats. The best shotgun that money can buy in Far Cry 6, the RMS-18, can inflict damage on enemies at short and mid-range distances if stealth isn’t your preferred combat style.

Best launcher in Far Cry 6: RAT4 Rocket Launcher

If you want to deal explosive damage to anti-vehicles across Yara, the RAT4 Rocket Launcher is the weapon for the job. Firing rocket-propelled missiles with insane accuracy at long range, the RAT4 Rocket Launcher is well served for destroying buildings, camps, blockades or if you need to push back forces.

• Lock On: launch missiles at marked targets like helicopters and tanks
• Gunslinger: increases mobility and rotate weapons faster
• High Ground: bonus damage dealt with enemies below when firing missiles from high ground
• Trigger Discipline: aimed weapon damage increased

Players will need to head to the Del Toro Port in Novemtarmas to complete the Liquid Courage Treasure Hunt to unlock the launcher weapon.
