After months of deliberation and voting amongst the numerous gaming releases featured in the official longlist unveiled last year, the official nominations for the 2025 BAFTA Game Awards were announced. The annual gaming awards ceremony celebrates the "outstanding creative achievement" within the industry over the last year, and the nominations were announced on 4th March 2025.
The 2025 BAFTA Game Awards ceremony, hosted at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, United Kingdom on 8th April 2025 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm BST, will be livestreamed on the BAFTA's official Twitch and YouTube channels. 41 gaming releases have been nominated across 17 categories, with Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Astro Bot, and Still Wakes the Deep leading the nominations going into the annual ceremony.
Over 1,300 industry professionals who make up the BAFTA Games members had longlisted 58 games that best reflect the best of video games in 2024 before voting began shortly after the longlist was revealed. While the BAFTA Games members voted on two categories, Best Game and British Game, the specialized BAFTA juries deliberated on the remaining categories "to decide the nominations," which were announced recently.
BAFTA Games Committee Chairperson Tara Saunders stated that 41 games recognized for this year's ceremony not only showcase "the very best of the British and international games industry" but "they put game titles onto the global stage, unearthing hidden gems alongside the best-known game experiences of the year. A nomination is an incredible achievement for any team or individual, especially during what continues to be a turbulent and trying time for our industry."
Amongst the highlights of this year's 2025 BAFTA Game Awards nominees, Ninja Theory's Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 secured the most nominations across 11 categories, including Best British Game and achievements in Audio and Narrative. Close behind Hellblade 2 is Team Asobi's Astro Bot and The Chinese Room's Still Wakes the Deep with eight nominations a piece, with Astro Bot nominated for Best Game and Still Wakes the Deep competing against Hellblade 2 in Best British Game.
Coal Supper's independent comedy adventure game Thank Goodness You’re Here! was recognized for its wise-cracking hijinks across the top categories, including actor Matt Berry, who earned a nomination for Performer in a Supporting Role. Black Myth: Wukong received six nominations, online multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 earned five, and LEGO Horizon Adventures, Animal Well, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and LocalThunk's Balatro all received four nominations; the latter game was nominated for Best Game, Debut Game, and New Intellectual Property.
