Where to find Academy Glintstone Key in Elden Ring

After players have completed their expedition at Stormveil Castle, they’ll find themselves at the Raya Lucaria Academy. Unfortunately, the Academy’s main access point is sealed for which a key is required to unlock the door.

Locating the Academy Glintstone Key doesn’t require much detective work as there are two ways in which you can acquire one. Here’s how to find the Academy Glintstone Key in Elden Ring.

Where is the Academy Glintstone Key located?

Once players have defeated Godrick the Grafted at Stormveil Castle, you will be given two options connected to the Raya Lucaria Academy. These options are to go directly to the Academy or locate fragments of Dectus Medallion to gain entry to Leyndell, the Royal Capital.

Progressing your way into the Academy requires a key to unlocking the doors. When arriving at the Academy, you’ll immediately find a corpse left side of the Academy door holding the Meeting Place map.

The map points to a location west of the Academy, above the Temple Quarter. There are two Sites of Grace nearby this location, the Crystalline Woods and the Academy Crystal Cave.

Once you have fast travelled to either Site, head towards the marked location on the map. Unfortunately, an optional boss, the Glintstone Dragon Smarag, is guarding the key’s location.

You have one of two options, for which you can either stealth past the dragon and acquire the key or defeat the dragon. Since defeating the boss isn’t a requirement to advance throughout the game, opting to stealth your way around the dragon’s nest may be a better option.

With the Academy Glintstone Key in hand, head back to any of the Sites of Grace mentioned above and travel to the South Raya Lucaria Gate. From here, you can use the key to enter through the seal and locate another Site of Grace in the courtyard and a Legacy Dungeon.

How to find the second Academy Glintstone Key?

It’s also important to note another Glintstone Key located inside the Academy. You can acquire this key by completing Thops’ quest, in which he requires you to find an Academy Glintstone Key.

You can find the Academy Glintstone Key on a corpse lying atop a chandelier on the Church of the Cuckoo ceiling. To reach the chandelier, you will need to scale across the rooftops of the Academy from the courtyard.

Once you have retrieved the key, you can either unlock the Academy door and find the other key to give to Thops or hand him the key, completing his quest. Nevertheless, once the Academy door is unlocked, it will lead you to a courtyard to access the next Legacy Dungeon or continue exploring the Academy.
