eFootball Roadmap Overview
The initial roadmap for eFootball was announced by the developers via their official Twitter account on May 31, 2022. But since that original flurry of information, very little has been announced or confirmed by Konami.
Some of this existing roadmap, or as close as we can get to a roadmap, runs up until the conclusion of 2023, so until then, we're not optimistic of seeing or hearing any further information.
For now, let's dive into the roadmap we do have, which covers content updates, feature additions, and overall gameplay improvements planned for eFootball up until the end of 2023.
Spring 2023 Updates
Additional Player Slots
The Spring 2023 update of eFootball brings a highly anticipated feature – the option to purchase additional player slots. This is especially beneficial for players with large rosters who have struggled with limited slot availability. The specifics of unlocking these slots, whether it will be done with GP or eFootball Coins, remain uncertain. We will have to wait for the update to go live to obtain this information.
Adding Player Skills to Existing Players
The decision to remove skill tokens from the game received criticism from players who appreciated the additional skills they provided, commonly used in PES 2021 to enhance player abilities. Fortunately, these tokens will be reintroduced in the game this time.
However, it is unclear whether the previous format will be maintained or if a new system will be implemented. Ideally, players would be able to choose the specific skill that suits their needs, unlike the previous random assignment system. Unfortunately, KONAMI's thoughts on this matter are currently unknown.
Contract Renewals
The challenge of acquiring contract renewal tickets has been a point of criticism raised by players. These tickets are scarce and offer limited extensions. Considering the numerous legendary players whose contracts have expired, addressing this issue is crucial. Therefore, the Spring update will include plans to acquire contract renewal tickets as well as additional items for renewals.
Summer 2023 Updates
Progression Point Reset
The Summer 2023 update brings a fantastic feature that allows players to reset their progression points using GP and reallocate them as desired. This is something that many players were eager for and were excited to be getting this feature in the game.
More Substitutes for Dream Team
eFootball 2023 currently limits it to a maximum of seven players, which means the options managers have are predetermined. Fortunately, an update is planned for this Summer to allow for more substitutes to be added to the Dream Team.
Future eFootball Updates
Although the specific roadmap has not been announced, these features are indeed in the plans.
Master League
One notable surprise is that the Master League was not included in the initial release. Many were anticipating a significant revamp with additional features after almost two years of eFootball. However, KONAMI has confirmed that the Master League is being worked on and will be included in a future update. Unfortunately, the wait for this update will continue for some time.
Edit Mode
The ongoing development of Edit Mode enables players to personalize the game by adding their kits. This highly preferred feature allows for a more authentic football experience, especially since KONAMI doesn't have licenses for all teams or leagues.
Other Features
KONAMI has additional plans to introduce more features to the game soon. These include additional selectable teams in the Authentic Team mode, cross-platform compatibility between consoles, and compatibility between consoles and mobile devices. There are also indications that mobile controller compatibility might be introduced shortly.
With these changes, the passage provides a clearer and more engaging overview of the roadmap for eFootball in 2023, ensuring that players are well-informed about the upcoming updates and features. As always, we will endeavor to keep this article updated with the latest eFootball news and the current roadmap for the game.
