When KONAMI’s popular gaming series “PES” changed to eFootball, it became an ever-evolving 'free-to-play' platform (no longer an annual release) with the express aim of maximizing enjoyment and accessibility for football fans around the world. Naturally, then, there's an ever-increasing number of updates and patch notes released for the game as developers add new content, new modes, bug fixes and much more.

With all that being said, fans rightly want to know what changes are being made to the game as updates roll out. For instance, you might want to know when a specific gameplay fix has been implemented to help take low-pass free kicks. Or alternatively, you might want to know why (or when) changes to adjustments to how a keeper saves shots.

There are so many factors that go into a game, so understanding every minute tweak is valuable to all players as well as aspiring esports players. With that in mind, let's stop waffling and take a look at the latest updates, changes, and hotfixes to eFootball 2024.

Latest eFootball 2024 Patch Notes

Update v3.2.0 Patch Notes - Released December 7, 2023

Feature Addition and Changes
・ Added a new VS AI game mode "My League" where users can participate in leagues from around the world using Dream Team.
・ Added Co-op Events where users can compete online in teams.
・ eFootball™ League has been redesigned for greater enjoyment and playability.
・ Added a mini-game for users to earn various rewards every day.
・ In addition to the existing Contract Renewal (60 Days) and Contract Renewal (10 Days), users will be able to renew player contracts using GP.
・ In online matches, the number of times a user can perform an unskippable goal celebration will be limited to once per match.
・ Users will be able to play the Training mode with Dream Team players.
・ Made changes to the presentation of player signings.
・ Made changes to the layout of the Top Menu.
・ Implemented changes so that some players with fixed Live Update Ratings will now have fluctuating Live Update Ratings.
・ Implemented changes so that if users do not have enough players who meet the Event Conditions of Themed Events, fictitious players are now given as Loan Players.
・ Implemented adjustments to Events with "Event Conditions" or "Player Bonus" so that the Conditions are deemed met as long as the players' team affiliation or the players themselves fall under the indicated Conditions.
・ Match Time is now displayed on the screen when making player substitutions during a match.

eFootball 2024 v3.1.0 gameplay fixes and adjustments

Passing

  • Implemented adjustments to alleviate the issue of players not being able to receive passes adequately.

Goalkeeper

  • Fixed the issue where goalkeepers may get off the ground in an unnatural manner.
  • Fixed the issue where goalkeepers may carry the ball out of the 18-yard box when performing a "Drop Ball" command.
  • Fixed the issue where goalkeepers may sometimes be unable to catch a slow low-bouncing ball.

Fouls

  • Fixed the issue where fouls are not correctly called when a collision occurs between your player and an opponent player that kicked the ball while being off balance.

AI

  • Implemented adjustments so that players will adequately dodge away from nearby teammates.
  • Fixed an issue where defenders are unable to keep up against the ball-holder under certain conditions. This issue is triggered if the option "AI-controlled" is selected for [Match Settings] > [Player Controls] in Events.

eFootball 2024 v3.1.0 feature additions

  • Confirmation messages will now be displayed when attempting to release non-Standard players in order to prevent unintentional player releases.
  • Changed the display order of [Release] and [Lock] when selecting multiple players in [eFootball™ World] > [My Team] > [Players].
  • Added a functionality that will notify you of any Nominating Contracts that are about to expire. This notification will be shown in [eFootball™ World] > [Contract] > [Special Player List] if any Contract is less than 1 week away from reaching its Date of Validity.
  • Implemented changes to the outer frame of Epic Player Cards when they are being displayed in a smaller size, such as in the My Team screen.
  • Added selectable Authentic Teams in "Trial Match"/"Friend Match."

eFootball 2024 v3.1.0 data updates and additions

  • Updated club data for the 2023-24 AFC Champions League season.
  • SC Corinthians Paulista, CR Flamengo, SC Internacional, São Paulo F.C., and CR Vasco da Gama will be shown with their licensed names.
  • Updated licenses.
  • 3 Stadiums have been added to the game: Estádio Cícero Pompeu de Toledo, Neo Química Arena, Estádio Beira-Rio.

eFootball 2024 v3.1.0 global improvements

  • A variety of minor adjustments have been made to each mode and matches, with the aim of improving the overall gaming experience.
eFootball 2024 v3.1.0 general fixes and bug removals
  • The Career Objective "Develop Players to Max Level" is not completed when a player reaches his max level via the Player Action "Legacy Transfer."
  • After performing Legacy Transfer under [Dream Team] > [Game Plan], transitioning to the Managers page in [Tactics] > [Change Manager] may result in the "Finished Legacy Transfer" alert message being displayed again.
  • Career Objectives may be completed even if the completion conditions have not been achieved.
  • The match may be resumed unintentionally during a Quick Restart. This may be triggered when attempting a restart in your own 18-yard box and is caused by a non-kicktaker accidentally touching the ball.
  • Results of Penalty Shoot-outs may be displayed incorrectly in certain languages.
  • Preset Tactics changes cannot be performed during a Quick Restart.
  • When users create or enter a Match Room in [eFootball™ World] > [Dream Team] > [Match] > [Friend Match] > [Create 1 vs 1 Match Room] with an empty spot in their Game Plan, selecting [To Match] after filling that spot within the Match Room may result in the message "You can join the next match once this one has ended." being displayed and users may fail to proceed to match.
  • The "In It Together" goal celebration prompt seems to disappear in Co-op matches. This is triggered if a user who was not the goal-scorer chooses to skip the performance.
  • Certain players may miss the ball when attempting to perform a Stunning kick command.
  • The goalkeeper fails to clear or trap a ball that was punted backward from a teammate who is close to the halfway line, resulting in an own goal.

Update v3.0.0 Patch Notes - Released September 7, 2023

Regarding Changes to the "Sharp Touch" Command

Previously, performing a Dash Dribble would sometimes unintentionally trigger the Sharp Touch command. For this reason, the default Sharp Touch command has been changed to "pressing Dash twice".

To revert to the original settings, go to [Command Configuration] > [Advanced Settings] > [Sharp Touch Type] and select "pressing once".

Feature Addition and Changes

・ From v3.0.0 onwards, "Team Playstyle Level" will no longer be a gameplay element. As such, players will no longer have "Team Playstyle Proficiency", and their Abilities will no longer be increased or decreased according to the Team Playstyle of choice.

・ Previously, certain Standard players would have had a different player image once they reached Max Level. This feature will no longer be a gameplay element, and changes to player images will no longer occur. Users who possess max level Player Cards with a different image will see the image being reverted back to the status at the timing of signing.

・ Foil Player Cards, which could be signed from the Standard Player List at a low probability, are no longer available.

・ In the pre-match [Game Plan] > [Player Details] screen, Condition-related increases/decreases of Player Stats are no longer displayed.

・ Challenge Events with Event Conditions have been renamed as "Themed Events". Also, Event-exclusive "Loan Players" have been made available so that users can immediately participate in Themed Events even if they do not have enough players that match the Event Conditions.

・ The "Rainy" and "Snow" Weather options have been made available for certain stadiums.

・ "Base Team Settings" is now placed in the Game Plan, rather than the User Information.

・ Base Teams can now be set for each Game Plan.

・ Level Training and Player Progression can now be performed from the Player Details screen in Game Plan.

・ Updated selectable Authentic Teams in "Trial Match"/"Friend Match".

■ Updates and Additions

・ In-game assets and other data carryover process will be conducted when accessing the game for the first time after installing the version update.

・ Updated licenses.

・ The country name of Czechia has been changed in some languages.

・ 6 Stadiums have been added to the game: Johan Cruijff ArenA, Estadio do Escorpião, Estadio del Nuevo Triunfo, Stadio Orione, Estadio del Martingal, and Sports Park.

■ Gameplay Fixes and Adjustments

Based on the various opinions we received in user interviews and surveys, we have made gameplay adjustments and modifications in this update with the emphasis on "improving play control liberty for better chance creations". Defensive adjustments were also made to accommodate the adjustments made for attacking plays.

〇 Dribbling

・ The speed balance between dribbling and defending has been adjusted. Players' dribbling speed will now be slightly faster than before.

・ Fixed an issue where players that are dribbling would sometimes run out of bounds or lose possession to an opposing player when trying to avoid a sliding tackle.

〇 Feints

・ Adjustments have been made to improve the response of body feints, Scissors Feints, Overtakes, Flip Flaps, and In & Outs.

〇 Traps

・ For ball control and dribbling, the response after ball touches has been greatly improved.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players will take touches with greater awareness regarding the direction of the goal. If a directional input is not performed, the player will now automatically control the ball in the direction of the goal.

・ Implemented adjustments to alleviate the issue where, when attempting to control the ball in midair, the ball may roll over the player's body and could take a long time before hitting the ground.

〇 Passing

・ Implemented adjustments for passes, allowing the player to choose a more suitable teammate as the target.

・ Implemented adjustments so that through balls will now be played towards a more adequate position.

〇 Shooting

・ Implemented adjustments so that the players with a high "Kicking Power" Player Stat will now have a slightly higher shooting speed.

・ Implemented adjustments so that when players attempt a One-time Shot at close range, they will now opt to perform a quick shot motion instead of swinging their feet wide. However, for shots with a large Power Gauge input, players will still swing their feet wide and play a powerful shot as before.

・ Fixed an issue where the trajectory of Chip Shots was sometimes too low, even with a large power gauge input.

・ Implemented adjustments so that a more appropriate header motion will be triggered when receiving Fly-Through Passes and other midair balls from behind.

〇 Kicking

・ Implemented adjustments to alleviate the issue of players taking an extra touch instead of playing one-touch passes and one-touch shots after a kick input.

・ Implemented adjustments so that more appropriate kick motions will now be triggered in order to reduce the frequency of players attempting shots with a seemingly unnatural body position.

・ Previously, when kicking the ball after a "Knock-on" input, the speed of the kick would sometimes become too fast. As such, the kick speed of these kicks has now been slightly reduced.

・ Fixed the issue where, if the ball was far from the player's feet, an incorrect kicking motion would sometimes be performed. Specifically, the motion for kicking the ball far away would be performed, even if the player wanted to kick the ball towards a closer target, which resulted in poor response.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players' special kicking motions are triggered based on the raw values of Player Stats instead of other factors like Condition etc.

・ Fixed an issue where players would sometimes score an own goal when trying to clear the ball in an unnatural body position.

〇 Defense

・ Adjusted the positioning of players so that it is now easier to reclaim possession when applying pressure.

・ Adjusted the positioning of players in Match-ups.

・ Fixed an issue where players were sometimes slow to get up after performing a block.

・ Adjustments have been made to the situational judgment of players in order to avoid clearly unreasonable blocks.

・ Adjustments have been made to blocks, and more specifically the ball behavior with respect to the players' Abilities. The coverage area of blocks is now correlated with the "Defensive Awareness" Player Stat and the "Blocker" and "Interceptor" Player Skills. On the other hand, the ease of ball recovery after a block attempt is now correlated with the "Tackling" Player Stat and the "Blocker" Player Skill.

〇 Goalkeeper

・ Re-implemented adjustments to ensure that goalkeepers will make the appropriate decision to catch an oncoming ball in the air in appropriate scenarios, as previously they may instead elect to punch the ball away.

・ Fixed an issue where the goalkeeper would sometimes not take any action after coming off his line.

・ Fixed an issue where the goalkeeper would miss a back pass, resulting in an own goal.

・ Fixed an issue where the trajectory of a punt kick from the goalkeeper would sometimes be excessively off course.

〇 AI

・ Implemented adjustments to the positioning of supporting players in relation to the ball holder to allow for smoother passing plays in attacks.

・ Fixed an issue where players trying to make a run behind the defensive line would sometimes jump out too late.

・ Fixed an issue where players trying to make a run behind the defensive line would move in a direction that made it difficult for them to receive the pass.

・ Implemented adjustments to ensure that fullbacks will no longer make overlapping runs outside the touchline.

・ Fixed an issue where players running towards the opposition area during counterattacks would sometimes stop running at untimely moments.

・ Implemented adjustments so that when players with "Roaming Flank" Playing Style are positioned near the ball, it is now easier for them to move into the flank.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players with the "Poacher" Playing Style will no longer attempt to receive the ball with their backs against an opposing defender. This action will now instead be performed by players with the "Target Man" Playing Style.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players with the "Poacher" Playing Style will attempt to make runs behind the defensive line with greater frequency, regardless of the configured Team Playstyle.

・ Implemented adjustments to increase the frequency that players with the "Adv. Striker" Playing Style will attempt to make runs behind the defensive line when the Team Playstyle is set to "Possession Game".

・ Implemented adjustments to the positioning of players so that when keeping possession in the final third with Team Playstyle set to "Out Wide", it is now easier for teammates to receive oncoming passes.

・ Implemented adjustments to increase the frequency that center forwards attempt to make runs behind the defensive line when the Team Playstyle is set to "Out Wide".

・ Implemented adjustments to the positioning of teammates during throw-ins so that it is now easier for them to receive oncoming passes.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players in an offside position will quickly make themselves onside according to the situations.

・ Implemented adjustments so that players will adequately dodge away from teammates and their oncoming shots.

・ Implemented adjustments to the positioning of players so that they will keep a more adequate distance with the opposition players when performing man-marking.

・ There was an issue with passes being easily played behind the defensive line immediately after kickoff. As such, adjustments were implemented to the movement of players who are applying man-marking.

・ Implemented adjustments to alleviate the issue where fullbacks that are performing man-marking would move towards the center of the field without passing on their man-marking duties to a teammate.

・ Fixed an issue where defending players would sometimes move slower than expected when expecting Fly-Through Passes into the penalty area.

・ Implemented adjustments to increase the frequency of substitutions for AI-controlled teams. This adjustment also increases the frequency of substitutions for when [Substitutions] is set to anything other than "OFF" in Automatic Match Support.

・ Implemented adjustments to the AI in VS AI matches so that players will make more appropriate decisions and perform actions with respect to their individual characteristics. The difficulty balance for each Match Level has also been adjusted.

〇 Controls

・ Implemented adjustments so that during set pieces, the "Call for the Ball" command under "Off-the-ball Controls" will no longer be operable after the kicker has commenced the kicking motion.

・ To avoid unintended triggering of Sharp Touch, the default Sharp Touch command has been changed to "pressing Dash twice". The original settings can be configured by going to [Command Configuration] > [Advanced Settings].

・ To address a known issue, Off the Ball Controls are no longer available in Co-op.

〇 Fouls

・ Implemented adjustments for fairer foul decisions with regard to the circumstances.

・ Implemented adjustments to avoid calling an offside foul even if there is a player involved in an offside position, in the case where the defending players are likely to retain possession.

〇 Other Gameplay Enhancements

・ Implemented adjustments so that the cursor will switch to a more appropriate player in defensive situations.

・ Implemented adjustments to the consumption of Stamina, as previously midfielders with high Stamina Player Stat would sometimes run out of Stamina midway through the second half.

・ Fixed an issue where the Direction Guide arrow would sometimes be different than the directional input when performing a kick.

・ Fixed the issue where the match will not end at the appropriate timing even after the approximated additional time has passed.

・ Implemented adjustments to how a player's Form affect his Conditions. Precisely, players with "Normal" or "Inconsistent" Form are less likely to have a Condition that is "Bad" or lower. Furthermore, when players with "Inconsistent" Form have a "B" or higher Live Update Rating, their Conditions will be set to "Normal" or above.

・ A variety of new animations have been added for shooting, blocking, and tackling, etc.

■ Global Improvements

・ Implemented adjustments to the acoustics of stadium announcements.

・ A variety of minor adjustments have been made to each mode and to matches with the aim of improving the overall gaming experience.

General Fixes Applied to Mitigate or Eliminate the Bugs Shown Below

・ The application may crash due to an error.

・ In Co-op matches, if the receiver of the pass fails to take a touch and the ball is taken by the opponent, the passer may receive a play feedback for a failed pass.

・ In Co-op matches, the "DF Line Control" play feedback is not displayed even if the user successfully lays an offside trap.

・ In Co-op matches, performing the "In It Together" may see the goal scorer slip past the signboards during the goal celebration.

・ When kicking a user who has already created another Match Room from the current Match Room, an alert may instead be displayed and the Match Room may be closed unintendedly.

・ Performing player or manager actions at a certain timing may result in the dialogue indicating that the action has been successfully performed not being displayed correctly.

・ Performing Skill Training at a certain timing would result in users not being able to confirm nor check the status of Additional Skills.

・ For players in certain positions, the player's name may not be switched even after performing a cursor change.

・ When certain players perform a goal celebration (Personal), the goal celebration may not be displayed correctly in the Replay.

・ If substitutions are registered in Game Plan just as the first half begins and the match does not stop until half time, the second half may begin without the substitutions being made.

・ If the Away side's Player Name Boxes display is set to "Off", information displayed in [Preset Tactics] will not switch.

・ In certain languages, unsuitable commentary may be played.

・ Performing certain commands during a match may result in the player not following through with the switchback motion after a Step over.

・ During penalty shootouts in Trial Match, users are able to open the Pause Menu before the players shoot the ball.

・ Attempts to redo Skill Training after encountering an error during the previous Skill Training would result in multiple Skill Training Programs being spent.

・ In Tour Event, playing matches with certain settings may result in the Cursor Type of players not being displayed correctly.

・ In Co-op Match Room, the [FK Taker 2] settings can be configured even though it is disabled in-match.

・ In [Game Plan List], Changes made to the capitalization of letters in [Rename Game Plan] are not reflected.

・ Certain team names may not be used in [Extras] > [User Information] > [Dream Team].
