Fans have been waiting more than a decade for the Budokai Tenkaichi series to return, and the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero release date will bring a sequel to a franchise that skipped two whole console generations. As new details begin to emerge, it's looking like the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster will be among the most extensive in franchise history.
Each new trailer gives players new forms and features to be excited about, and all editions are now live for pre order. Here, we've got details on when the game will arrive and the complete Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster that Bandai Namco has confirmed so far.
Update July 2: The latest character reveal was Sword vs Fists themed, but one sword-wielding fighter from late in Dragon Ball Z didn't make the cut.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Release Date
The Dragon Ball Sparking Zero release date is set for October 11, 2024 with three days of early access making those with a special edition able to play as soon as October 8, 2024. If you're looking to pre order, we've got more details explaining each edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero here.
This is right in line with the October 2024 release date we'd previously predicted, and they've already got post-launch DLC in the pipeline as well. So far, no release dates have been revealed for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero DLC.
The game will feature destructible environments and elaborate combat like previous Budokai Tenkaichi games, which modern players will find is more in line with Xenoverse and Kakarot than the side-scrolling Dragon Ball FighterZ. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will release exclusively on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Sadly, original Dragon Ball and GT forms may not make the cut or may be saved for future DLC. Recently, the voice actor for Goku let slip that Super Saiyan 4 recordings had been done, which could mean GT forms just haven't been revealed yet. While GT is no longer canon, characters introduced in that era have frequently shown up in various Dragon Ball games. We also already know that Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has a confirmed DLC to feature characters from the Dragon Ball Super Super Hero movie and the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime.
That wraps up all the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster members we know about so far. The tiled roster shown in trailers indicates a full roster of 164 playable forms, so we have plenty more yet to be revealed.
