While the road to The International 10, the biggest summit in Dota 2 competitive, is far from over, it seems some teams and players will start preparing even if we are three months away from it, as Evil Geniuses have become the first team to qualify to the competition after their victory 2-0 against Team Undying.
To serve as context, each edition of The International is defined by having the best teams from all around the world who got one of the twelve invitations available through the Dota Pro Circuit rankings, plus six winners from the Regional Qualifiers.
EG qualifies for The International 10
Any team who dreams to participate in this stage has to collect at least 1,050 points from different tournaments and Majors. At the moment two teams are really close to it, being Invictus Gaming and Virtus.pro with 1,000 points each.
However the honour of being the first entry goes to the North American team, as with a dominant victory they have secured at least 200 points from the current season of the NA Upper Division, and combined with their first place of the first DPC season, and being runners-up at the Singapore Major, the org has already summed 1,150 points, enough to overpass the minimum needed to get a seed on the global event.
For now, Evil Geniuses have the keys to another international stage where they can replicate their world championship victory back in 2015, and with the incredible performance they have had in their last participation, they will be some of the hardest rivals to face off in The International 10.
