With all of the different characters in Don't Starve Together, you'll no doubt want to try out multiple of them and get a feel for their abilities and how they can help keep you alive for longer. That said, you'll need to take a few steps before you're able to swap between characters freely.
Thankfully, though, if you know what to do, it's more than possible to choose any character you want in Don't Starve Together. In this guide, we'll show you how to change your character in Don't Starve Together.
How To Change Characters In Don’t Starve Together
There are several steps to changing your character in Don't Starve Together. You'll likely want to wait a few days after starting your game before trying this out, since you'll need to find a Moonrock Boulder, which doesn't spawn early on.
Without further ado, here's how to change characters:
- First, you'll need to find a Rockyland Biome. This is the only space where Moonrock Boulders spawn. Moonrock Boulders are fairly rare, especially when you're first starting out, so you might have some trouble getting your hands on one. That said, if you wait, you're bound to find a Moonrock Boulder eventually.
- Once you've found the Moonrock Boulder, you can reach inside and get the Celestial Ball. Along with the Celestial Ball, you'll want to have a purple gem in your inventory, which is decidedly easier to get.
- By mixing the Celestial Ball and purple gem, you'll get a Moon Rock Idol. Hold on to it.
- Next, mix a board and rope and craft an object called the Portal Paraphernalia.
- Go to the Florid Postem and place the Portal Paraphernalia and Moon Rock Idol inside.
- The portal will ask you to place some items inside. Obtain them and place them inside.
Once you've done this, you can go to the Florid Postem and change your character freely. You can use each character's abilities when you switch to them, and you won't lose your items or need to start over.
That's how you change your character in Don't Starve Together so you can explore different characters' different abilities. You'll need to do a little bit of work for this to be able to happen, but it's well worth it since you'll be able to do lots of things you couldn't if you just stuck to one character.
