The release day of Diablo 2 Resurrected is finally here, and many players will undoubtedly try to legendary ARPG for the first time.
For the newcomers, especially if this is their first encounter with a typical hardcore hack and slash game, choosing the right class to try Diablo 2 Resurrected for the first time might be a daunting task. New players are not familiar with the challenges the game will put in front of them and how is each class capable of dealing with them.
Truth to be told, each class is more than well equipped and up to the task, as you will learn by playing the game end eventually testing all the classes. But when it comes to the very first playthrough, there are some classes that are somewhat easier to control and that have the right set of skills which will allow you to go through the story without any serious issues.
While there are different opinions on which class that might be, which also depends on personal preferences, our recommendation is to play with the Sorceress.
Read on to find out why is the Sorceress the best class for beginners in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Diablo 2 Resurrected Sorceress for beginners
As the prefix "action" implies, Diablo 2 Resurrected is a game of speed and efficiency, the game where you need to min-max both your skill and stats points, as well your actions in real-time, in order to get maximum results.
The efficiency and speed are exactly the reasons why many consider the Sorceress to be the most powerful class not just for beginners, but in general.
And while there are many viable and fun builds to play with a Sorceress, there are a few of them that stand out as being both easy and potent, especially for the first playthrough.
Those two builds are Blizzard build and Meteor build. Don't worry, we are not here to further confuse you but to help you in deciding what to play and present you with a clear choice, and that's why we advise you to play Blizzard build.
Sorceress Blizzard build skills
Blizzard is an extremely powerful area effect spell that can wreak havoc on the battlefield, especially if you maximise Cold damage with Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, and Glacial Spike, which will all grant you +5% Cold Damage per level. You should max out all of these spells as soon as possible, as well as Cold Mastery.
The base playstyle is that you dance around your enemies (kiting) and abuse AI to group them and then unleash Blizzard on them.
Between Blizzard casts you can use Glacial Spike which will deal some damage but more importantly it will freeze enemies, allowing you to escape from dangerous situations.
The unique spell that supports this playstyle is Teleport, which will further help you to run around and cast burst spells from a safe distance while avoiding damage.
Some players opt to level up Fireball in this build as well, as an additional "main" damage spell, against enemies which are immune to Cold damage.
Stat point allocation for Sorceress Blizzard build
When it comes to stat points, in the early game feel free to spend them on Energy, because you will often be without mana, but this stat will later become less important, as you will be able to get all your mana from potions. So, around midgame, you should stop investing in this stat completely.
For Strength, invest only as much as needed for gear requirements, otherwise, this stat is not really important for the Sorceress. It is useful to always have some stat points put aside, as you never know when you might get some awesome piece of equipment, but you don't meet the requirements to wear it.
The most important stat to invest in is Vitality, as you will need to sustain a lot of beating, which is especially problematic for the Sorceress, as she is initially one of the most vulnerable characters in the game. The simple rule is - whenever you are not sure how to spend your points, put them into Vitality.
With that said, we will end this basic guide of ours. We think that the first experience with Diablo is best when explored at your own pace and when players discover strong combos and synergies on their own, as that's the biggest joy of going into a game for the first time.
