With the release of the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion, Season 6 (Season of Hatred Rising) has also been released, and with it, new seasonal content has emerged. That's right, not only do you have a tonne of new content to go through with Vessel of Hatred, but anyone (even those who don't own the expansion) can enjoy the fight against Realmwalkers in Diablo 4.

Take a seat, Nephalem, as we'll explain precisely how you can unlock the Realmwalkers feature, the mechanics you should know about to defeat these huge beasts straight from the heart of Hatred, the spawn schedule, and the important rewards you can acquire.

How To Unlock Realmwalkers

First and foremost, it is essential to note that Realmwalkers are Seasonal content, which means you must be playing on the Seasonal Realm for Diablo 4 Season 6, not the Eternal Realm. Vessel of Hatred is not required to take on Realmwalkers.

To unlock Realmwalkers, head to Zarbinzet and speak to Crusader Damond, then pick up and complete the "Creeping Hatred" quest. That's it; you can now enjoy the Realm walkers and subsequent Seething Realm content.

Diablo 4 Realmwalker Spawn Schedule

You'll see a Hatred Rising zone appear on your map (in one of the five regions of the base Diablo 4 experience) with a green demon skull. A Realmwalker will spawn every 15 minutes, rotating from one region to the next. If you own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, a second Realmwalker will appear in Nahantu every hour, in addition to one of the original five zones.

To be clear:A new Realmwalker and Hatred Rising zone event spawns every 15 minutes.

The first Realmwalker every hour is also a Tree of Whispers quest, and every three hours, the one in Nahantu is a Tree of Whispers quest as well, adding even more reasons to slay these gigantic demonic beasts.

How To Beat Realmwalkers in Diablo 4 Season 6

There are a few steps you must take to start beating Realmwalkers. First up, after a Rising Hatred zone spawns, you'll see the Realmwalker walk through the zone, spawning hordes of enemies along the way. Players must smash all the enemies that spawn to fill a meter bar, which triggers the summoning of some Bloodbound Guardians.

Once you kill the Bloodbound Guardians, you'll see the Realmwalker's health start to drop in chunks. The Realmwalker will continue to...well...walk around the zone until it finds "sacred ground" aka the ritual site.

At this point, three Hatred Spires will spawn. Once you take all three down, the Realmwalker will finally become vulnerable to player attacks.

Check out a bit of Realmwalker lore below to get the blood flowing:

Gargantuan heralds of Hell bearing sanguine-eyed portals on their backs have been spotted stomping about Sanctuary. Their presence is a grim tavern tale—a harmless prank meant to scare the weary traveler—turned into reality by Mephisto’s hatred. They are known locally as Realmwalkers.

Once a Realmwalker becomes vulnerable, open up with your highest damage skills and take it down. You'll see dozens of other players fighting the boss as well, so it's not too difficult, and I would say not even as difficult as some world bosses when Diablo 4 first launched.

Realmwalker Rewards & Seething Realm

While Realmwalkers and the additional enemies spawn, do reward powerful random drops, alongside a tonne of Gold and XP, the big and unique reward for defeating these gigantic beasts is opening up the Seething Realm, a new type of Dungeon.

Once a Realmwalker is defeated, you'll see a red portal opening up, and once you enter it,  you will have to complete the Seething Realm, making your way through a plethora of enemies. Completion of the Seething Realm will not only provide players with a boatload of shiny loot but also the new Seething Opal elixirs, depending on what you choose at the Realm Gate.
