Diablo 4: How To Complete Dead In The Water Side Quest Guide

If you're here, I bet you're looking for a guide on how to complete the Dead In The Water side quest in Diablo 4, aren't you? Go figure. But fear not because you've landed on the ultimate guide to get you going. This is the next side quest of the Hawezar region, marking yet another intriguing adventure through Sanctuary.

In particular, the previous chapters saw you speak to Gulyas and farm special ingredients from Nangari Necromancer Elites to brew a potion. You then used this potion to essentially unalive Bandits and Cultists. However, after returning to Gulyas with the results, she expressed dismay. So what comes next? Let's find out.

How To Complete Dead In The Water Side Quest In Diablo 4

To begin the Dead In The Water side quest, you must find and speak to Tomaj. After doing so, he will follow you as you will now have to lead him to collect 10x Salvaged Resources and burn 3x  Fresh Corpses. 

Head south, and you will soon encounter multiple Raiders and other enemies. Kill all the mobs that pose a threat to you and Tomaj. After doing so, you'll notice they will drop Salvaged Resources. Collect them and continue to the next area.

Once there, you should find a few more groups of Skulkers and Raiders nearby to the east, carrying the rest of the Salvaged Resources that you need to continue the Diablo 4 Dead In The Water side quest.

After the enemies are slain, Tomaj will notice a suitable dead body nearby and approach it. Walk toward and interact with it. Afterward, Tomaj will burn it. However, you are not out of the woods yet, as every fresh corpse you find will have various enemies around them.

Continue clearing the enemy mobs and burn the bodies until you find the final body. Once this happens, you will meet the Stranded Man. You will now be tasked with slaying the Drowned around the Stranded Man.

Next, burn the final body and speak to Ervin the Stranded Man. Now that the coast is clear, you must escort Ervin and Tomaj back to town to complete the Dead In The Water Side Quest in Diablo 4.

Once you are safely back at Backwater, speak to Szilvia. You will have two dialog options but select the "He's telling the truth. I didn't help him with his work (Lie)" option. That will conclude the Dead In The Water side quest in Diablo 4. You will receive 33,920 XP and 3000 Gold, and 20 Hawezar Renown.
