Diablo 4 Blacksmith: How To Unlock & Functions

With the launch of Diablo 4, Lilith returns to Sanctuary. To put it mildly, we are very excited to jump into the fourth mainline entry of Blizzard's iconic ARPG franchise, and one NPC we can't wait to meet is the Diablo 4 Blacksmith.

Nephalem are sure to be good friends with Zivek in Diablo 4, as the Blacksmith has always been one of the essential NPCs in every Diablo title, featuring a range of functions that players simply can't live without. This guide explains exactly how you can unlock the Diablo 4 Blacksmith.

How To Unlock Diablo 4 Blacksmith (Zivek)

Unlocking the Blacksmith in Diablo 4 is a relatively painless process that is hard to miss. When you reach level 10 on a character, you will receive a Priority Quest in the first big area, Fractured Peaks.

Players will need to travel to the central hub of the area, called Kyovashad, and talk to Zivek. You will then be tasked to upgrade an item. The reward for completing this quest, players will receive XP and unlock the Diablo 4 Blacksmith in the process.

Once you've unlocked the first Blacksmith in Diablo 4, Blacksmiths can be found in other towns, settlements, and even after Strongholds have been cleared. It is important to note that you do not have to use Zivek in Kyovashad every time you want to use one of the Blacksmith functions in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Blacksmith Functions

Arguably an essential function of the Blacksmith in Diablo 4 is upgrading your items or crafting new ones. Players will be able to upgrade all Diablo 4 item rarities, including Uniques, making the Blacksmith's functions in Diablo 4 of unparallel importance. 

Diablo 4 also has item durability, as players lose 10% durability on death. Zivek will come to the rescue, however, as the NPC has a repair item function, asking for some Gold to get the job done. Another function of the Blacksmith NPC is the ability to salvage unwanted items into crafting/upgrade materials.
