Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is a love letter to the Castlevania series. The DLC has gotten high reviews across the board for how much content was added to the game and how good the DLC actually is. There is a lot of new content from this DLC. There are new areas to explore, new weapons, and new characters to interact with as well.
One of the best additions that came from the Dead Cells Return to Castlevania DLC is something called Richter Mode. This mode allows players to play as Richter Belmont in Dead Cells. But players might find it a bit difficult to actually start and play Richter Mode if they are unfamiliar with the DLC. Here, we are going to go over how players can start Richter Mode in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania.
How To Begin Richter Mode In Dead Cells Return To Castlevania DLC
Starting Ricther Mode in the Castlevania DLC is not as straightforward as you might think. Richter Mode is actually hidden away within the game and players will have to set out to find it. The Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells is broken down into two main parts. The first main part is getting past Dracula's Castle which will lead to a fight with Death. The second is reaching True Dracula's Castle, which will lead you to fight Dracula himself.
Players need to first reach True Dracula's Castle. In the true castle, there will be a mural that looks a little bit like an hourglass. Players will need to get to that mural and press their action button to teleport. There, players will see Richter Belmont in a cage. Players will then need to free him. But it does not end there.
Players will actually have to return to that spot in the following run. Players cannot access Richter Mode without freeing him and then coming back to that same spot in the following run. Once you are in that same spot where you freed Ricther, you can interact with the cage he was in and then you can start playing Richter Mode from there. So as you can see, Richter Mode is actually hidden within the game and not accessible from the start.
The Difference Between Richter Mode And Normal Dead Cells
Richter Mode is actually very different from normal Dead Cells. Dead Cells is a very fast-paced game with a lot of easy traversal movements that the players can utilize to get around enemies in the game. Richter Mode slows it down a bit without a lot of movement options for Richter Belmont.
Although it sounds like a downgrade, it allows the players what it was like playing as Richter Belmont, and it actually feels like a different game. It does not feel like they put Dead Cells' main character in a Richter costume and called it Richter Mode. Richter Mode is actually something completely new in Dead Cells and has been reviewed positively as well.
