Earlier this week, it was reported that one of the Heroic players at IEM Cologne 2021 had been tested positive for COVID-19. The German health authorities have made an update, saying that all players tested negative and are allowed to leave the quarantine.
Was the previous test this week a false positive? “The positive test from July 6th was not a false positive, but likely traces from a previous infection earlier this year,” we can read in the IEM statement. “This scenario is a known possibility for people who had previously been infected with COVID,” the authorities added.

Due to the fact that all Heroic members’ tests turned out to be negative, the players are allowed to exit quarantine and enter the practice room, from where they will compete for today’s match against Team Spirit at 1:30 PM CEST.
“We will continue to follow protocol and conduct further tests with the team today. This will determine whether the team and staff are cleared to enter the tournament area in the next few days,” says Heroic management in the organization’s announcement.
