The Brazilian superstar coldzera was previously ranked the best player of 2016 and 2017 while part of Luminosity Gaming and later SK Gaming. Across those two years and within the 'SK era', coldzera won eight MVP medals including both Majors: ESL One: Cologne and MLG Major Championship: Columbus.
In the last two years, a switch from SK Gaming to MIBR saw an ill-fated American experiment with Jacky "Stewie2k" Yip and Tarik "tarik" Celic added to the successful Brazilian core. Poor results continued despite a return to a Brazilian line-up earlier this year and success for Stewie and tarik came in Team Liquid and NRG respectively.
Following internal conflicts, coldzera benched himself from the roster and sat out the StarLadder Berlin Major with his former teammates choosing to play with coach Wilton "zews" Prado instead following rule changes.
The last three months have seen coldzera sit on the bench with many believing FaZe to be the only likely destination from the start.
Having been spotted taking a photo of the FaZe team at Warsaw International Airport and his seemingly sudden presence in Serbia and attendance at a local LAN alongside Nikola "NiKo" KovaÄ and Janko "YNk" PaunoviÄ, the news seemed inevitable.
The news was officially leaked when an ESL photographer's live story revealed coldzera in FaZe attire following the ESL One New York media day.
FaZe's announcement comes after GuardiaN returned to Natus Vincere and NEO's trial was not continued following a disappointing run with the Polish veteran in-game leader. Helvijs "broky" Saukants was confirmed to be playing with the team on trial by NiKo after practice server screenshots were leaked including the young player.
The addition of coldzera marks the first permanent fifth for the FaZe squad since the benching of Danish IGL Finn "karrigan" Andersen in December last year.
