After consistent poor performances in CS:GO, Evil Geniuses plan to replace their coaching staff. The North American side will move Damien “maLeK” Marcel to an inactive role. They will also let go of assistant coach Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau and analyst Juan “Hepa” Borges.
According to the statement, Evil Geniuses will look to find new coaching staff to support the current roster appropriately. The organisation mentioned its commitment to informing fans about a new chapter in the upcoming weeks.
EG CS:GO coach maLeK moved to inactive
MaLeK joined EG on 24th December 2021. Although he remains under contract with the organisation, the 36-year-old is free to look for new opportunities and establish his career elsewhere.

MaLeK was in charge of EG for a little less than six months. However, he was the head coach of G2 Esports for three years. The French professional had a good run at G2 with being runners-up in a few important tournaments, including PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and Intel Extreme Masters - Cologne.
He also spearheaded the team for a few crucial tour wins. Later, Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam replaced maLeK in November 2021. EG appointed maLeK the head coach to handle the newly formed squad and bring success to the organisation.
Assistant coach, EVY was with maLeK at G2 and Hepa was the CS:GO analyst for Team Liquid. However, both of them are now free and will look to explore interesting opportunities in the future.
Evil Geniuses’ CS:GO performance
EG has been extremely poor in the 2022 campaign. The North American team was out in the groups of BLAST Premier Spring Groups after losing to Liquid in the lower bracket. EG were bottom of the group table in the ESL Pro League Season 15.
They failed to win a single match out of the possible five games. Their recent 2-0 loss against GODSENT in the BLAST Premier Spring American Showdown was the final nail in the coffin.
Evil Geniuses changed their roster towards the start of the 2022 season. However, their performances have shown no progress. It seems like EG is struggling to get a grip on the competition.
It will be interesting to see how much a change in coaching staff affects the future of EG in CS:GO.
