Heading into the BLAST Fall Groups 2024, FaZe Clan was ranked 6th in the world, while NIP was ranked 17th. After FaZe Clan lost to G2 Esports in a dramatic reverse sweep and dropped a map against GamerLegion, there were question marks about FaZe's form.

Even so, NIP rose to the occasion and shocked Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports fans across the globe, as few expected a clean sweep against FaZe Clan. This also means that for the first time in four years, FaZe Clan has to compete in a Showdown event to earn a spot in the BLAST Premier Fall Final.

NIP's map pick of Ancient went the distance, with the sides perfectly even in both halves of regulation, 6-6, then another 6-6 for a 12-12 to push the map into overtime. In overtime, however, it was NIP that dug deep to secure 4 rounds against 2, winning Ancient 16-14.

On FaZe Clan's map pick of Inferno, it first looked like karrigan's men would pull one back. However, NIP stabilized despite heroic efforts from the likes of Robin "ropz" Kool, who even picked up a whopping four kills on the B site defense with a Five Seven in an eco round that FaZe had no business winning, showing his immense skill.

NIP managed to quickly recover and win Inferno 13-11, narrowly avoiding another overtime situation and sending FaZe Clan packing with a 2-0 victory in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024.

As reported by HLTV, the legendary IGL  Finn "karrigan" Andersen talked about FaZe Clan's loss against NIP, stating:

We have to push through and adapt on the fly. I think, most of all, we need to wake up and look at ourselves in the mirror. It comes down to everyone pushing through. It's a mental battle now, which we used to be good at, but sometimes, things change. Losing 2-0 to NIP is not good enough with the players we have.
