NAVI Sweeps Team Falcons in Opening Match of BLAST Fall Final 2024

In the opening match of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 Group A, we saw NAVI and Team Falcons clash. Following the ESL Pro League Season 20 win, NAVI was the top-ranked Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports team at the start of the event in Copenhagen, while Team Falcons was ranked 15th.

On Team Falcons' map pick of Anubis, NAVI made their presence felt early on, taking a 7-5 lead in the first half and then pushing their advantage on the CT side with a 6-0 to win Anubis with a convincing 13-5 score. 

My personal favorite highlight on Anubis has to be Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov's ace (all five kills in a single round) against Team Falcons' half-buy in the 15th round. Keep in mind that w0nderful is the AWPer, but used an M4A1. Check it out below.

On NAVI's map pick of Ancient, Team Falcons woke up a bit and even secured a 7-5 lead on the CT side, a solid achievement in its own right. NAVI broke a solid round win streak from Team Falcons and started to mount a significant comeback in the 14th round. 

In the 18th round on Ancient, NAVI recovered from a 5v3 deficit to defuse the bomb in a post-plant situation, solidifying their comeback and tying the score 9-9. NAVI continued their success on the CT side with some great individual heroics and, in the end, managed to secure a 13-10 score, defeating Team Falcons 2-0. 

My favorite highlight from Ancient has to be Justinas "jL" Lekavičius' incredible clutch play in the 20th round, scoring four kills when NAVI was on the backfoot in a 4v2 situation. jL managed this feat with two TEC-9 kills, and two M4A1 kills, making the play even more impressive.

With the win, NAVI advances to the Winner's Match in Group A, where they will face either G2 Esports or FaZe Clan. Team Falcons has one more shot to stay alive in the tournament, as they'll face the loser of G2 Esports vs FaZe Clan in a best-of-three elimination match on 26 September 2024.
