BLAST Premier Spring Final: NAVI vs. Astralis Report
You'll find more details about what happened on each map of the NAVI vs. Astralis Group B match below.
NAVI vs. Astralis Map 1 Nuke
On the T side of Nuke, Astralis got off to a strong start, winning the pistol round despite two quick kills from Valerij "b1t" Vakhovsjkyj. NAVI then decided to take an eco, and Astralis earned an early 2-0 lead.
With Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov waking up in the 3rd round and b1t clicking heads as usual, NAVI pulled back two rounds to even up the score. Then, Astralis managed to plant the bomb with a force buy, and things turned pair-shaped for NAVI, losing the 5th round.
Astralis found a lot of momentum on the T side, despite Nuke historically being a CT-sided map. The Astralis squad, led by the legendary Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, pushed their advantage and earned a 7-2 scoreline early in the match with a 5-round streak before taking a tactical pause.
NAVI responded with an all-important round win after Astralis failed to push at the top site to claw one back, thanks to some heroics from IGL Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen. Unfortunately for NAVI, Astralis responded in the next round. NAVI then secured the last round of the first half. The score stands at 8-4 in favor of Astralis.
Astralis opened up on the CT side with the pistol round win, and then NAVI responded in a swift and decisive manner to make it 9-5 and give themselves a chance to win Nuke.
NAVI slowed down the pace on the T side, continuing to close the gap despite having some close calls. Aleksib's execute plans paid off as NAVI managed to pull it back to a 9-9 scoreline.
Despite Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov's best efforts, trading some fantastic kills with the Big Green, Astralis won a close 19th round after time ran out on NAVI, and then...a technical pause.
Astralis pulled back in a more defensive position due to their economy hurting a bit in the 20th round, but NAVI didn't care, smashing Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz's team to bits and making it 10-10. In the next round, NAVI broke Astralis' economy.
Under financial pressure, Astralis buckled, and NAVI claimed Nuke with a final 13-11 scoreline, completing an incredible comeback from 9-4 down on Astralis' map pick.
NAVI vs. Astralis Map 2 Dust2
On Dust2, NAVI's map pick, the teams traded some quick kills in the pistol round before Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz scored three kills quickly to give his side an early lead, and then Astralis converted expertly for a 2-0 advantage on Dust2.
On the CT side of Dust2, Astralis kept their composure, cleaning up some eco rounds from NAVI and holding their own when the rifles came out. With a 4-0 lead, it was clear that something dev1ce was doing was working out wonderfully well.
It wasn't until the 5th round that NAVI pulled one back with a nice strategy to fake out Astralis, planting the bomb on the A site and locking down the round, and did exactly the same in the next.
Astralis pulled one back, but NAVI instantly responded with three rounds in a row, tying on 5-5 while Astralis' economy was in shambles.
At the end of the first half on Dust2, NAVI put forward a winning T side with a 7-5 scoreline, despite Astralis' strong start to the half.
In the opening round of the second half on Dust2, the A-site defense from NAVI crumbled under Astralis' pistols, and NAVI decided not to force buy, giving up another round to tie the scoreline at 7-7.
In their first CT side buy round, NAVI expended all their utility before getting some critical picks and closing out the round, then playing aggressively in the next round for a 9-7 lead on Dust2.
Astralis used a technical pause when NAVI was 10-7 ahead and went into the 18th round with a full buy. NAVI responded decisively with a fantastic hold on the B site, killing all four Astralis players in a matter of seconds and then finishing off Jakob "Jabbi" Nygaard, who slipped the net.
Disaster struck for NAVI in the 19th round, however, as Astralis on pistols managed to secure some early kills and finished off the round with a bomb explosion, giving them an extra injection of cash.
NAVI retaliated with a classic Aleksib tactic, giving an additional AWP to b1t in the next round to make it 12-8, before in a wild 20th round where dev1ce got a double Glock kill, made the score 12-9.
Astralis couldn't withstand the aggressive pressure of NAVI, and, in the end, Astralis lost Dust2 with a 13-9 scoreline and the series 2-0.
NAVI vs. Astralis Map 3 Mirage
NAVI wins 2-0 - a third deciding map is not required.
