With 16 teams competing in two brackets for just two spots at the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, there was incredible intensity in each match.
I was shocked to see FaZe Clan get knocked out at the BLAST Fall Groups, but Finn "karrigan" Andersen had one last chance to lead his team out of trouble and into the BLAST Premier Fall Final. I had little doubt he would, as per my Pick'Em predictions.
In the first bracket, FaZe Clan got off to a solid start with a relatively convincing 2-0 over Rare Atom. FaZe Clan then avoided disaster, beating paiN Gaming 2-1 after the Brazillian side managed to pull off an overtime win on the second map, Inferno.
In the first bracket's finale, with a spot at the BLAST Fall Final 2024 on the line, FaZe Clan showed they could still remain calm under pressure, easily beating OG 2-0 with 13-8 on Dust2 and 13-8 on Ancient. Heck, FaZe's IGL even scored a quick Ace on Dust2, but to be fair, that was against an eco round.
Before the BLAST Fall Showdown, there were quite a few question marks about Team Falcon's recent performance, and there still might be a couple left. Even so, the squad got off to a good start, beating M80 with a 2-0.
Team Falcons then survived Complexity, but it wasn't easy at all, as Complexity won the first map, Nuke, with a convincing 13-6. Team Falcons then had to reverse-sweep their opponents, beating Complexity 13-10 on Vertigo and 13-5 on Anubis.
Virtus.pro and Team Falcons faced off in the 2nd bracket's finale. With renewed vigor, Team Falcons made relatively quick work of Virtus.pro, which came as a bit of a surprise to some fans, including myself. Team Falcons won the first map, Vertigo, with a 13-10, and then completely shut down Virtus.pro on Mirage with a clean 13-6 to claim a 2-0 victory.
Congratulations go out to Team Falcons and FaZe Clan for surviving the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown and earning the last two coveted spots in the Fall Final 2024, which runs from 25 to 29 September!
