In the Grand Final of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 at OVO Arena Wembley in London, Spirit beat NAVI 3-1 to claim the final trophy before the long-awaited player break. While the Grand Final didn't go to a 5th map, it delivered utterly exciting Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports action, with the crowd cheering for NAVI, an underdog against an on-form Spirit.
Maybe it was those cheers that inspired NAVI's IGL, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, to pull off an amazing Ace (killing all five enemy players) on Dust2.
Specifically, on the 6th round of Dust2, with NAVI trailing 0-5 on the T side, the NAVI IGL gave his team and fans across the globe some hope. Aleksib got in a great lurk coming from behind in mid-to-catwalk. Check out a reply of the ace clipped via Twitch below.
At one point, it was a 2v3 situation in favor of Spirit, and Aleksib was on only 9 HP for the last two kills, putting even more weight on the excellent Ace. Further, Aleksib narrowly dodged an HE Grenade that would have killed him and held his ground in the mid-doors / catwalk position with nerves of steel.
One could argue that Aleksib's ace spurred on NAVI, as the team bounced back on Dust2. While they still lost the map, Spirit won with a rather close 13-9 scoreline, despite being up 5-0 prior to the ace.
