With the release of Civilization 7 just a few increasingly short months away, each new First Look reveal adds to the game's expansive roster of leaders and civs. The most recent gameplay livestream turned attention towards the Exploration Age, and the newest Civ 7 leader will have close ties to the Inca Empire in that era. If you're looking forward to making the most out of mountains, it's already clear who should be your leader in Civilization 7.

Pachacuti joins an already extensive list of Civ 7 leaders and civilizations, and there's no denying he's king of the mountains. While mountains have often been an obstacle in Civilization games of the past, occasionally a few leaders will have the right bonuses to maximize their value. Once you get to the Exploration Age, that'll get even stronger if you choose the Inca Empire.

Pachacuti will have a unique ability called Earth Shaker which gives a food bonus for all buildings adjacent to mountains. Pachacuti's specialists adjacent to mountains won't cost any happiness to maintain. Together, these will give players the opportunity to build up their population and provide more versatility as you build your empire near mountains.

As the Mountain King, the agenda for Pachacuti in Civ 7, his relationship with the leader that has the least mountains in their territory will improve. At the same time, the other leader with the most mountains in their territory will upset Pachacuti and see their relationship decrease.

While you will have the option of using another civilization in combination with Pachacuti, the Inca were definitely catered to his strengths. Inca civs can work mountain tiles to gain additional food and production. You'll even get the unique Terrace Farm improvement which has a high food yield but must be built on a rough tile adjacent to a mountain.

Top all of that off some extra civic tree bonuses and the Machu Picchu wonder which gives players increased resource capacity, culture, and gold to build a truly powerful Inca Empire of your own in Civilization 7. The worldwide release date for Civ 7 is February 11, 2025, but anyone that secures the Deluxe Edition or Founders Edition will get to play as early as February 6, 2025.
