Best weapons in Warzone Pacific Season 1 - most broken guns on Caldera

The day has finally come, Call of Duty: Warzone's biggest update to date is here, the Caldera map is now live and with it, the Warzone Pacific era begins.

Verdansk is now a thing of the past, as it will no longer be available in the battle royale, replaced by a sunny Caldera island in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

Things might be new, but war.. well, war never changes. Unless we are talking about the meta, of course, the meta changes a lot, especially with so many new guns, a brand new map, numerous gameplay changes and much more.

With the start of Warzone Pacific Season 1, there are so many new things to take into consideration when trying to understand what guns are best to use on Caldera, and not many people have that much time to test everything, they just want to reliably know what weapons are the best and start dominating on the new map from the get-go.

Luckily for you, we are here to do all the extensive testing. Our GINX team tried all the "classic" Warzone weapons as well as 40 new Vanguard weapons in Warzone. 

And while the new season and the new map have just dropped, we can safely say that we already have a pretty clear picture of which guns will be broken on Caldera during Season 1, so, without further ado, let's check out the best gun for each class in Warzone Pacific Season 1.

Best Warzone Pacific Season 1 weapons

Below you will find the best weapons for each primary weapon class in Warzone Pacific plus the best handgun for Caldera. We will not cover things like launchers or melee weapons, as they are not really important.

Before proceeding, keep in mind that Warzone Pacific introduces completely new conditions and gameplay elements to the game, making the battle royale essentially a completely new experience and thus this list will probably be further refined as we get more familiar with the game as well.

Still, we have tested these guns more than enough to be confided that you will not make a mistake if you choose to use them on the Caldera map at the start of  Warzone Pacific Season 1.

Best assault rifle: STG 44

We're kicking things off with the STG 44. The strongest AR from Vanguard pre-season is a perfect gun for Warzone Pacific Season 1. The STG 44 is good because it is a well-balanced weapon, which offers strong firepower and reliable accuracy, and that's especially important for many open areas of Caldera, where you will often find yourself in a medium to long-range exchange.

On top of that, it's a really speedy weapon that will not hinder your mobility, which must be taken into consideration due to the map's enormous size. Speed and mobility will be of utter importance on Caldera, and the STG 44 feels like it was made for the map in that regard.

Best sub-machine gun: The MAC-10 

With Warzone Pacific, six new Vanguard SMGs have been added to the battle royale, but our pick remains the same, and that's the MAC-10.

The MAC-10 boast superb hip-fire accuracy, something you will often need while roaming around the huge Caldera island unless you are planning to ADS non-stop.

Having a reasonably low recoil and very high rate of fire, the MAC-10 is great for both mid-range and close-quarter combat, which fits perfectly with a variety of situations you will find yourself on Caldera in Warzone Pacific Season 1.

Best sniper/marksman rifle: Kar98k

While there are now three (3!) versions of the Kar98k in Warzone (Modern Warfare, Cold War, and Vanguard), you can honestly choose whichever one you prefer, and you will not make a mistake.

The differences are small, albeit the one in Vanguard is somewhat heavier than the other two, but it packs a bigger punch. If you are confident in your skills and planing on playing slowly, the Vanguard version is good, otherwise, we advise you on the Modern Warfare one, as it will offer you the most in terms of mobility while still being deadly.

Best light machine gun: DP-27

Another gun coming to Warzone Pacific straight from Vanguard. We described the DP-27 as the best one for "fulfilling a fantasy of a true World World 2 soldier" and it really is that, but it turns out it's also a great weapon to use on the Caldera map.

LMGs are not exactly light weapons despite the word being in their name, but among these behemoths, the Degtyaryov machine gun stands out as one of the most mobile LMGs available.

Best shotgun: Streetsweeper

There was always a close competition between the Gallo SA12 and the Streetsweeper in Warzone. Both are great shotguns with their clear pros and cons, but ultimately, the Streetsweeper is our choice.

It has the largest ammo pool in the class and the fastest fire rate out of any shotguns in the game, making it a near-perfect weapon for tight areas and close/quarter combat. Its only real weakness is painfully slow reloading time, so you will need to always keep that in mind. The best solution is to try not to miss so that reloading is only important when there's no combat.

Best tactical rifle: DMR 14

The DMR 14 has finally found its stable and balanced position in the meta, without being infamously oppressive nor being useless, like it was for several months after the nerfs.

A few minor buffs over the last few seasons have helped the DMR 14 rise in popularity, thanks to recoil changes which make the weapon much more manageable while still having decent firepower. Give the weapon a try if you already haven't and you will be surprised how efficient it is.

Best pistol: Renetti

There's no Desert Eagle on the list this time around, one of our favourite pistols in the game, mostly because I'm actually not really sure how efficient it will be on the Caldera map.

Instead, we are going with the Renetti in Warzone Pacific Season 1. This handgun excels in close range combat, thanks to its speed and handling, and it's arguably one of the best support weapons for when you need to quickly finish off a dying opponent.
