Call of Duty fans were happy after Activision confirmed the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but many started to ask what would happen to the current game modes, in-game items, and more. To answer these questions, Activision posted to the Call of Duty Blog about all the content which will be carried forward from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 to Modern Warfare 3.
But this doesn’t answer their question about one of the most favorite game modes, DMZ. Having been first introduced with MW2 through Warzone, it helped gain many new players and gave veteran players more reason to stick around. DMZ allowed players to extract new weapon blueprints, making unlocking the weapons easier.
Will DMZ Return In Modern Warfare 3?
Although there's yet to be an official confirmation from Activision regarding the game mode being in MW3, it's most likely to get a slight revamp before it is reintroduced in the new installment. DMZ is expected to have its lifecycle like Warzone, which was reintroduced two years after its initial launch. However, Warzone 2 and DMZ are expected to get content updates along with the new game.
The blog post, which mentions details about the content being carried forward, also says that the weapons extracted through DMZ will also be available to players in MW3, which give a strong hint about the game mode being available.
How Will DMZ Work In MW3?
There has been no official confirmation yet regarding anything; we suspect that DMZ will be shut down briefly between MW2 Season 6 and the launch of MW3. We will be seeing a reset in the game mode. This reset is expected to have new maps, new locations for weapon blueprints, and more. It'll likely return with Warzone's integration with MW3.
