How to get the Ray Gun in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

The Ray Gun is the most iconic weapon in Call of Duty Zombies. Making its debut in the original iteration of the mode back in World at War, whoever has this futuristic-looking weapon in their hand knows they have an asset in mowing down hordes of the undead. One blast from this bad boy can either completely decimate a zombie or, at the very least, leave them without legs so they have to crawl to attack you. Of course, this icon is back in MWZ. Here is how to get the Ray Gun in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies.

How to find the Ray Gun in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

You can get the Ray Gun in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies a few different ways, but you will either need to put in some work or get lucky to equip it. Your earliest chance at getting one is to open the Mystery Box. The Mystery Box spawns randomly around the map and can be found at the bottom of a tunnel of light shooting into the air. You can spend 950 points for the box to give you one of several weapons, one of them potentially being the Ray Gun.

Outside of the Mystery Box, your best chance at getting a Ray Gun is to get it as a reward for clearing out Fortresses in the Tier 2 zone. To get these events, you must have found a Fortress Key in a safe by clearing out a Mercenary Stronghold. You can buy Mercenary Stronghold Keys from the Buy Station for 2,000 points.

Once you reach a Fortress, get ready for an all-out brawl. You need to fight your way into the building and find the legacy soldier. This guy will be tough to bring down, but if you have upgraded your weapons enough and have teammates fighting alongside you, you should be able to manage it.

Once the legacy soldier is defeated, there will be a reward rift that appears alongside a Ray Gun or Wunderwaffe DG-2 Acquisition Case. Whoever equips or stows that case first will get the weapon. If you decide to stow the case away and exfil with it on your person, you can start a future game of Modern Warfare 3 Zombies with the Ray Gun equipped right away.
