A certain perk has been wreaking havoc in the Multiplayer lobbies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The Recon Combat Specialty is a tricky little number that highlights enemies to its user immediately after respawning.
Naturally, it's been causing some grief, revealing enemy locations and allowing users to get some highly advantageous revenge kills. Fun for the user, yes. But for those caught on the opposing side, it can be a little frustrating. At launch, the effect lasted for 2 seconds. On top of that, players even found a glitch that allowed them to activate the ability by switching Loadouts.
Treyarch Nerfs Tricky Recon Combat Specialty in Black Ops 6
Thankfully, Treyarch has seen the outcry and complaints from players. In a recent patch update, the studio revealed that they had reduced the duration that enemies are highlighted after respawning from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
It might not seem like much, but players know that every second counts when it comes to securing intel. But it seems further nerfs are coming, as Treyarch revealed that further reductions to the duration will be rolled out ahead of Season 1.
The patch also addressed the issue that allowed players to activate Recon Combat Specialty by changing Loadouts. The studio also issued a statement regarding their stance on Perks and Combat Specialties going forward:
"As we head into Season 1, we are continuing to observe data and feedback for Perks and Combat Specialties in Multiplayer. Currently, Enforcer is the most popular Combat Specialty with Recon in second place.
It's not just about the data though, as your feedback is a critical part of how we approach tuning of the live game. With that said, we are making some spot adjustments today as we as we continue to take a holistic look at our Perks and Combat Specialties moving forward."
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on October 25, 2024 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
