Black Myth: Wukong has been released to the world, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, offering players an action-packed, Souls-like experience that many are eager to dive into—well, almost everyone. Unfortunately, Xbox players have been completely left out, as the game still lacks support on that platform at the time of writing.
Despite Microsoft’s relatively weak presence in China, there was hope that the game would eventually arrive on Xbox. However, the prevailing theory now suggests that it may not be coming to Xbox Let’s discuss the current state of Black Myth: Wukong and the possibility of its future arrival on the Xbox platform.
Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox Release Is On The Way According To Microsoft
According to Forbes' Paul Tassi, Black Myth: Wukong is in a rather odd state when it comes to its release on the Xbox platform, with speculation that it might be due to an optimization issue. This situation is similar to the issues that plagued Baldur's Gate 3 when it experienced a delayed release on Xbox. Black Myth: Wukong seems to be in a similar predicament, facing what Tassi describes as "unknown tech issues."
Following this report, Microsoft reached out to Tassi but only provided a generic response with no real specifics regarding the game's release. The response was: "We’re excited [for] the launch of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We can't comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders, but we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the center of that."
Although the report from Tassi reassured players that this delay wasn't due to any interference from Sony (such as making a deal to keep Black Myth: Wukong exclusive to their platform for a certain period), there remains very little concrete information on what the real hold-up is and how long Xbox players might have to wait.
The situation appears even bleaker considering that PC is a predominant platform in China, while Xbox is not a priority in the Eastern market. This has led to concerns that Black Myth: Wukong might not arrive on Xbox for quite some time, if at all.
Of course, at this point, we can only speculate, but with the lack of communication from both Game Science and Microsoft regarding these issues, Xbox fans are left hoping that Team Green will eventually get to play Black Myth: Wukong.
