Fans of the iconic FPS franchise are hyped for Battlefield 2042 releasing in October this year but it isn't the only Battlefield game coming your way.
In April this year, we reported about Battlefield Mobile, developed by iToys and published by Electronic Arts. The developers aim to make Battlefield-on-the-go a reality, and players can expect a fully-fledged, skill-based experience on iOS and Android devices sometime next year. While a broad release date window for Battlefield Mobile as "2022" doesn't allow us to mark our calendars just yet, the game's Google PlayStore pre-registration page went live on 3rd September, showcasing images, gameplay details and more.
How to pre-register for Battlefield Mobile
Out of the blue, Battlefield Mobile's pre-registration page opened up on Google PlayStore for Android users. It is only available in certain regions. Check back to the page later if it is not available for you to pre-register just yet.
Players can head on over to the Battlefield Mobile Google PlayStore page now to pre-register. The page notes that once the game is available, it will automatically be downloaded to your device.
At the time of writing, no official release date has been revealed, nor details about any form of a possible beta test. We also don't have the device requirements for Battlefield Mobile yet, but thanks to the pre-registration page, we do have some more gameplay details and official images to share!
Battlefield Mobile gameplay details
The Battlefield Mobile page on Google PlayStore reveals some gameplay details no one knew about, boasting "your favourite FPS combat, superior teamplay, and genre-defining destruction."
The page goes on to mention there will be maps and modes both new and familiar to veteran Battlefield players. Further, players will be able to build a loadout of "authentic weapons and game-changing gadgets".
Vehicles are mentioned as well, including tanks and AVTs, as well as combat abilities that grant players the capacity for mass warfare.
Large scale environmental destruction is another gameplay detail of Battlefield Mobile that fans might have expected but was previously not confirmed.
The PlayStore page reads: "Across all game modes, you’ll experience the same wild situations and explosive spectacles Battlefield is famous for. Whether it’s outrunning a collapsing tower on your ATV, parachuting off a building while firing a rocket launcher, or burying your enemies under the rubble of a building you destroyed with your tank, every match is unforgettable."
Battlefield Mobile classes and loadouts
In terms of classes, four have been confirmed for Battlefield Mobile:
- Assault
- Support
- Medic
- Recon
Players will be able to build custom loadouts for their class from "a vast collection" which includes: "Weapons, skins, class-specific gadgets, and more."
EA explains: "Find your personal play style and customize your soldier to maximize their capabilities. Weapons, gadgets, skins and more can be personalized and upgraded to match your class and progress. War heroes with unique narratives prepare for battle, each with their own assignment. Learn their stories, immerse yourself in the war and stand out on the battlefield with the best customization to date."
Battlefield Mobile strategy options and squads
Thanks to the diverse terrain, there will be a lot of strategic options on each map, namely:
- Tactical: Go on foot for tactical agility.
- Destroy: Commandeer an ATV for explosive speed and surprise.
- Stealth: Kill stealthily with melee weapons.
- War Tanks: Conduct a shock-and-awe campaign in a fully armoured tank.
- Sandbox: Your sandbox, your rules. Battle in land, sea and air.
EA also touched on squads in Battlefield Mobile: "Battle alongside your squad of war heroes and take control of the battlefield. Join a battalion or build a squad to engage in large-scale territory conflicts and earn rewards.
"Tilt the match in your favour as you make strategic, team decisions and level up your battalion of soldiers. Defend, destroy and fight for survival with superior teamplay and a range of game modes: multiplayer, objective and more."
That's quite a lot of gameplay details we didn't have about Battlefield Mobile before, and we even got to see some gameplay images! While pre-registration is not yet available on iOS devices or for many regions across the globe via the Google PlayStore, it should get the hype building a bit for Battlefield Mobile.
