The Battlefield 2042 open beta launches today on 6th October and brings with it a slew of new content for players to enjoy, including stunning, immersive new maps for an all-new gameplay experience. DICE and Electronic Arts indicate that "each map is designed with multiple distinct combat areas" that will directly impact the strategy employed by each player and their squad.
Each map is uniquely situated in various real-world locations and features true-to-life weather effects, such as rain, wind and tropical storms. In addition to the classic Battlefield maps, players can enjoy seven new maps, with many more slated for release with DLCs and patch updates later on. Here are all the maps in Battlefield 2042.
All maps in Battlefield 2042
Players will unlock each of the maps indicated below as they progress through the game.
Hourglass
This map is set in the city of Dohar, Qatar and will have players battling in the desert, amid massive dust and sandstorms rolling in. DICE notes that the map will also blot out natural light and obscure player vision, and thus force players into close-quarters combat as they "battle for control of their convoy trapped in the shifting sands."
Discarded
Based along the West Coast of Alang in India, players will battle among the hulls of stranded ships that are now being stripped for parts. There are also deadly storms that players must seek refuge from as they duck and dive from enemy gunfire.
Manifest
Manifest is based in Brani Island in Singapore and is the only night map in the game. Players must navigate the maze-like cargo containers in a trading location, whilst trying to avoid being caught in tropical tornado storms ravaging the area.
Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope is another interactive map that will have players ziplining between skyscrapers as they battle amongst the plaza of the iconic city of Songdo in South Korea. Players will also have to be wary of tropical storms, like tornados and other dangerous debris flying about in the air.
Orbital
Orbital is set on a rocket launch site, in French Guiana. Players will have to "race against time and hostile conditions" as they battle against enemies around the imminent launch.
Breakaway
Breakaway will have players battle in an oil extraction plant in Antarctica. Players will be able to take advantage of destructible objects, such as fuel tanks and silos to create fires and fields of debris. This is arguably the largest map in Battlefield 2042 and players will have to make use of vehicles to move about.
Renewal
Renewal is set in the Eastern Desert of Egypt and will have players battle in tough conditions as they attempt to secure access points of a giant wall. The wall is a centre point in this map, which separates the dusty desert from the rich, man-made agricultural area and will have players playing on either side of the terrain.
All classic maps in Battlefield 2042
In addition to the aforementioned maps, players will also be happy to play on classic maps, including:
- Battle of the Bulge
- El Alamein
- Arica Harbor
- Valparaiso
- Caspian Border
- Noshahr Canals
And there you have it! All of the maps in Battlefield 2042! The Battlefield 2042 early access period will commence on 6th October at 7 am UTC / 8 am BST and will run for 24-hours for players that pre-ordered the game or are current EA Play subscribers.
