We've already gone over how you can find Scratch the Dog in Baldur's Gate 3, and how you can find companions, but how about finding Scratch a friend? That's right, there's another pet you can get in Baldur's Gate 3, and you can actually get him pretty early on in the game, and we've got all the juicy details.
How To Find The Owlbear Cub In Baldur's Gate 3
In a cave between the Druid Grove and the Blighted Village, fairly close to where you first encounter Scratch the Dog, you'll discover an Owlbear mother and her cub. You can talk to the mother and as long as you pass all the necessary checks, just leave the cave without having to fight the Owlbear mother at all.
You CAN fight the Owlbear Mother and as long as you don't kill the Owlbear Cub then you should be fine, but you'll likely feel extremely bad if you do it (I know I would), so try your best to go the peaceful route if you can.
You'll next find the Owlbear Cub in the Goblin Camp, and he's being tortured by the Goblins who want to use him for entertainment. Here, you need to get rid of the Goblins who are torturing him by either persuading or intimidating the Goblins to give him to you, then interact with the Owlbear and let him sniff your hands so he remembers your scent.
If you now wait a few nights, then the Owlbear will show up at your camp. Interact with him and pass whatever check you choose and one of your party members (from our testing it always seemed to be the party member that you were romancing at the time) will accidentally scare him off. The next night the Owlbear will reappear, and it's here that you can comfort him and pass a check to keep him in your camp.
Now, you'll be able to interact with the Owlbear around your camp. At some point you'll get an event during the night during which you hear loud noises during the night and run off to check on the animals, only to discover Scratch and the Owlbear laid together. Scratch will tell you that they've become best friends and that he sees you and the camp as home now in an adorable display.
