Before you change your class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you will have to unlock new classes. Every recruitable hero has a starting class, which you can acquire by completing their Hero quests.

How to equip a new class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Unlocking those classes is challenging; however, things become easier once all the classes have been unlocked. To change your character's class, go to the Class Selection Menu and choose from all the available classes. Before selecting a new class, you can examine the class stats and other class-related info.

Changing your class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will also change their pre-existing stats and combat arts, so keep that in mind before you make your decision. Leveling up your class will also allow you to transfer these combat arts from one class to another.
