With the year drawing to a close, more fans are turning their attention towards the eventual release of WWE 2K25. Since taking an extra year to reboot the franchise with WWE 2K22, each release has delivered just as well with even more depth to several game modes. WWE 2K25 Development Update Confirms New Animations
WWE 2K25 has been expected for some time as there's no indication 2K will slow down this annual release soon, but the major reveals are still almost two months away. Details like the WWE 2K25 release date, cover athlete, and editions are expected in late January 2025. This will likely line up close to the Royal Rumble, so the most likely reveal date may be January 28, 2025.
For now, the latest news comes from a report by PWInsider. Apparently, "work is well underway on WWE 2K25," and that also includes new motion capture work. Some of this will be to capture entrances and other details for any newly added wrestlers on the WWE 2K25 roster, but it also means new move animations are getting recorded.
That process has been a staple of the game for years, and more has been learned thanks to interviews with some of the wrestlers that did motion capture for 2K. It's not a ton of detail, nor particularly surprising, but it's good to hear confirmation that WWE 2K25 is coming along as expected.
There's been plenty of turbulence over the last year, and that means many from the WWE 2K24 roster could be missing from WWE 2K25. The same is true as newly signed wrestlers or those that didn't quite get added to WWE 2K24 in time will grow what has already been a massive roster in recent years. The countdown is on, and we'll only learn more in the coming weeks and months.
