There's a lot to get your head around in Warzone's DMZ mode. For starters, it doesn't operate like the game's standard Battle Royale. As an extraction-based game mode, players will be tasked with extreme looting, all while fighting against various enemies, players, and objectives.
Depending on the map you're playing on, you could unknowingly find yourself face-to-face with an army of AI patrolling a stronghold, or maybe contending for loot against other real-life players. But your chances of encountering real players in DMZ effectively boils down to how many you can expect to see in each match. Below, we'll break down just how many players can be in a DMZ match, including the player count for each of the available maps: Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, and Vondel.

How Many Players Are In Warzone 2 DMZ Matches?
For the most part, you'll be struggling against each map's many AI opponents, attempting to thwart your looting and extraction ventures. But, as an extra barrier, there will also be real, player-controlled opponents to face. But you don't have to do this alone; DMZ matches can be played in squads of up to three players. So what does that mean for the lobby sizes across each map?
How Many Players In Al Mazrah DMZ: Player Count, Lobby Size
If you're playing DMZ on Warzone 2's launch map, Al Mazrah, then you can expect a maximum lobby size of 66 players. So, excluding your own squad, that's 63 real-player opponents to fight against as well as the waves of AI. This means that there can be up to 21 full squads of three in an Al Mazrah DMZ match.
How Many Players In Ashika Island DMZ: Player Count, Lobby Size
Ashika Island is the smallest map currently available in Warzone 2 which, for DMZ, translates to a smaller amount of players in a lobby. In order to ensure that chaos is kept to a reasonable minimum, lobby sizes cap at 18 players on Ashika Island. If you're playing in max squad capacity, then that's six total squads on Ashika Island. though DMZ can also be played Solo or in Duos.
How Many Players In Vondel DMZ: Player Count, Lobby Size
Vondel is the newest map to make its way to Warzone 2 and DMZ. This mid-sized map is roughly between the sizes of Al Mazrah and Ashika Island. But, despite being bigger than Ashika Island, Vondel supports the same number of players.
On Vondel, DMZ players can expect a maximum lobby size of 18. Once again, this means six total squads if you're playing in full capacity groups. Vondel DMZ can also be played in Solos or Duos.
How Many Players In Building 21 DMZ: Player Count, Lobby Size
Surprisingly, Ashika Island and Vondel aren't supporting the smallest player count across DMZ maps. That crown actually goes to Building 21, a secret experience introduced back in Season 1 Reloaded. This map is pretty intense, lending itself to fast-paced combat. As such, the maximum player count actually caps out at 12 players. This means up to four squads can take on Building 21 amidst the AI opponents.
And that's all you need to know. Each DMZ map supports a certain amount of players and squads, making for some intresting experiences no matter where you land.
