Until Dawn Comes To PS5 and PC This October

Until Dawn is coming to PS5 and PC on 4 October 2024, completely rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. The updated title offers new character models, props, visuals, and more, providing a more "intimate experience" than the original.

Character models will receive lots of notable changes as one of the game's key visual improvements, which Ballistic Moon hopes will "will resonate with both new players and existing fans of the game. "

In addition to upgraded visuals, the new Until Dawn remaster also boasts a redone prologue. But developers have taken care not to alter the game heavily, creating an experience that's an upgrade from the original, but doesn't "alter its events."

"Although we have committed to keeping the original narrative intact, we felt the Prologue would benefit from some adjustments to its narrative pacing," Creative Director Neil McEwan explains in a PlayStation blog post. "We’ve given the Washingtons extra screen time to explore their close family bond and get to know them a little better."

Ballistic Moon's approach to upgrading Until Dawn seems to mimic that of Bloober Team's to the Silent Hill 2 remake, another survival horror game that fans hope will be remade very accurately.

"As a team of Until Dawn fans and horror lovers, our intention has not been to alter the events of that fateful night," McEwan adds. "Instead, we have focused on giving the original game a cinematic update, offering the player a more intimate experience by enhancing the visual storytelling."

Until Dawn will be available for pre-order starting 21 August 2024.
