The Last of Us Remake Gameplay Leaked - Combat, Weapon Crafting, More

The Last of Us franchise is no stranger to leaks, and the upcoming The Last of Us 1 remake is the latest entry to suffer its wrath.

Just weeks before the release of Naughty Dog's highly anticipated and controversial remake of its 2013's breakout hit, the internet has been flooded with gameplay leaks, some of which contain major story spoilers.

The leak first appeared on Reddit and Resetera, and while the original post has since then been taken down, you can find it floating pretty much on all social media platforms.

The Last of Us 1 Remake leaks flood the internet

 The Last of Us 1 Remake's $70 price tag continues to be a highly debatable topic within the gaming community, and fans have been wondering whether the visuals and gameplay overhauls are enough to justify that price. While the leaks don't answer those burning questions, it makes a few things clear. 

The multitude of The Last of Us 1 remake leaks showcase the visual amplification of some of the characters. Furthermore, there are screenshots of the game's weapon crafting system, gameplay footage of a mid-game combat encounter, and a spoiler-filled cutscene. 

If you haven't played The Last of Us before, we recommend not checking these out, especially the cutscene. With that said, we have linked all the leaks down below if you're curious about them.

First off, the screenshots of some of the major characters you meet in The Last of Us 1. It's immediately evident how much of a visual improvement this is.

Next are some gameplay screenshots from the early sections of the game. There is also a snapshot of the Display menu, highlighting all the visual options that will be present in the PS5 version of the game. 

As you can see, The Last of Us 1 remake offers Fidelity mode and a Performance mode. The Fidelity mode runs at 4K 40Hz and 40 FPS, whereas the Performance mode runs the game at 4K 60Hz and 60 FPS. The Last of Us 1 remake also seems to support HFR and VRR.

Next up is a leaked combat encounter that returning fans, in particular, would be interested in checking out. Naughty Dog has confirmed that The Last of Us 1 remake will feature modernized gameplay, and fans have been expecting it to be somewhat similar to The Last of Us 2.

However, if the leaked gameplay is any indication, the remake's gameplay remains unchanged for the most part. It's possible that this leaked footage is from an early build and the combat is significantly overhauled for the final product.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case as the leaker claims there are "no gameplay improvements. However, like in The Last of Us Part 2, fans should expect a lot of accessibility features.

The final leak is a cutscene from the beginning of The Last of Us 1. Sarah's death is still vivid in the minds of The Last of Us fans, and rewatching a visually enhanced version of seems to be even more heart-wrenching.

Thankfully, like its gameplay counterpart, the cutscenes in The Last of Us 1 remake also bear huge improvements over the original.
