It's almost two weeks since the release of Hazelight Studios' latest co-op action-adventure game, Split Fiction, and the game has sold around two million copies in a week. Additionally, it has garnered mostly positive reviews, to which we can only state that this astronomical achievement is "simply amazing" and encouraging for the development team.
While it's likely that the game will continue to increase its sales over the next few weeks and beyond, what does the future hold for the team at Hazelight Studios? That was answered recently by studio head Josef Fares in an interview in which he discusses and reacts to Split Fiction's record-breaking sales accomplishment where he reveals what's next for Hazelight Studios.
Hazelight Studios head Josef Fares recently sat down with the Friends Per Second Podcast hosts, and the interview was uploaded to the SkillUp YouTube channel on 17th March 2025. Fares not only expressed his gratitude to players globally for the positive reception towards the game but also thanked them for contributing to the incredible game sales success, and one would think they'll take some time to celebrate.
Well, the answer is no, as with the game now in players' hands globally, Hazelight Studios is moving on to their next project, according to Fares. As of the release of this podcast interview, Fares stated that "there's a reason" why he "can't talk about the next game" as he revealed that "it's quite early" in development.
He later added that the team is extremely excited to be working on their next project, which only started about "a month ago." Fares also stated that the team generally doesn't work "with games for three or four years," so we will eventually hear more about this upcoming project in a few years.
