3D Platformer Ruffy And The Riverside Receives Updated Release Date For June 26th

Independent developer Zockrates Laboratories has been gearing up for the release of their much-anticipated 3D platformer Ruffy and the Riverside. The upcoming release is heading to consoles and PCs, which was initially slated for Q1 2025; however, the developer opted to push it back "to make this the best possible game it can be."

Recently, the developer announced the game's new release date as part of PlayStation's indie spotlight, in which Zockrates Laboratories' Art Director Patrick Ruckdeschel detailed via the PS Blog what players can look forward to at the game's launch. Ruffy and the Riverside is available for players to pre-order for consoles and PCs ahead of its upcoming release in mid-2025.

The 3D platformer Ruffy and the Riverside from developer Zockrates Laboratories was first slated to release on 11th February 2025; however, the developer decided to give the game more time for polish and give it "a simultaneous release on all platforms." Now launching for Nintendo Switch(es), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation announced that the 3D platformer is launching on 26th June 2025 for these platforms and a developer interview live from GDC 2025 will be broadcasted on 20th March 2025.

As Ruffy, players will be equipped with a magical power of SWAP, which they can use to "Copy & Paste textures within the game world," like changing environments from ice to lava and waterfalls to vines and making traversal more accessible. Ruffy can also use these powers to solve puzzles across Riverside and "manipulate objects" they discover, like changing stones to wood to craft a boat or transforming a wall to rubble to open the pathway to exciting adventures.

There are plenty of treasures to collect throughout this uniquely designed game world, and once the 3D world comes to an end, players will be surprised as Ruffy leaps into 2D game levels with more obstacles to face. As stated before, Ruffy and the Riverside are heading to Nintendo Switch(es), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on 26th June 2025 with a demo available on these platforms and players can Wishlist the game with pre-orders to be available soon.
