After artwork previously leaked, Capcom has confirmed Resident Evil 3 remake is happening and will be released on 3 April 2020.
Interestingly, the remake will come bundled with their previously announced multiplayer spin-off Project Resistance – an online asymmetric four versus one game.
A trailer for the remake debuted during Sony’s State Of Play livestream, showing no gameplay but the impressive visual overhaul of protagonists Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveria.
The announcement of another remake perhaps isn’t surprising considering the success of this year's Resident Evil 2 remake – which scored critical and commercial acclaim.
The original Resident Evil 3 released in 1999 on PlayStation One and was renowned for introducing famed foe, Nemesis, who constantly pursues the player.
Project Resistance is now simply titled Resident Evil Resistance, and aims to be their equivalent of recent multiplayer horror hits like Friday the 13th and Dead By Daylight.
Resident Evil 3 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Elsewhere on the livestream, they teased a snippet from a trailer of PlayStation exclusive title Ghosts Of Tsushima - with the full reveal happening at The Game Awards on Thursday.
The other big announcement was Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC titled Re: Mind, which releases on 23 January 2020 and features new playable characters.
Untitled Goose Game is also heading to PS4 on 17 December, while a new trailer debuted for Square Enix and Platinum Games collaboration Babylon’s Fall – with more information arriving next summer.
