It will be almost five years since Ori and the Will of the Wisps' release, the sequel to developer Moon Studios' Ori and the Blind Forest, which mainly garnered positive reviews at its release. Since the Will of the Wisps' release, its developer has moved on to develop No Rest for the Wicked, which launched on PC through Early Access in April 2024, with a full console launch to be announced soon.

Recently, some players have noticed creative director Thomas Mahler has posted messages to the No Rest for the Wicked Discord server, which raised many eyebrows. While it's no surprise that Mahler sometimes posts on the Discord server, the contents of a handful of messages have some players believe he may be teasing their next project.

Moon Studios has ignited a level of intrigue and maybe excitement as recent Discord messages posted by its game director have caught the attention of fans and players of the Ori games. This found its way to an Ori subreddit where one Redditor uploaded an image that collected all of Mahler's posts referencing a third Ori game, seemingly teasing that it "might be" worked on.

Currently, Mahler has reaffirmed that he and the team are locked in on No Rest for the Wicked, which he stated is of the "highest priority," especially given their recent talks with Microsoft. This was in response to a message regarding them working on another "3D platformer" game, to which Mahler responded, "Let's see what'll happen," as they will "be able to do a lot of things," but work on No Rest for the Wicked is more important for him to work on and "perfect it."

Nevertheless, it will be some time before discussions surrounding Ori will eventually be reignited as Moon Studios are focused on  No Rest for the Wicked, which Mahler alluded to revealing Ori 3's title if they sell 10 million copies of No Rest for the Wicked. While this may not likely be the case, as he wants the final game version to be in the best state possible when it lands on consoles, these little Ori teases keep the hope alive for a potential third game at some point in time.
