As more and more events are cancelled, EVO 2020 organisers have given an update to reaffirm plans are still going ahead for this year’s tournament.
In a statement released on Twitter, organisers explained they are moving forward with plans for the event to go ahead from 31st July to 2nd August, although they’re “actively monitoring” the situation regarding the COVID-19 virus.
“The health of our attendees and staff will be the overriding factor in making a decision. Should EVO be postponed or cancelled, all ticket purchases will be refunded.”

A number of FGC events have been postponed due to the virus, including the Tekken World Tour, Smash World Tour, and TheMIXUP in France.
The line-up for this year’s EVO caused some controversy for the omission of Mortal Kombat 11, while Marvel Vs Capcom 2 will make its return in a “tournament of champions” to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary.
Other games on the line-up include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, SoulCalibur VI and Granblue Fantasy Versus.
EVO 2020 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from 31st July to 2nd August.
