The bow and arrow in Valheim is an extremely versatile combination that can take out most beings in the game.
While something like the Stone Golem isn’t going to be affected by the weapon, you’ll have success taking on most creatures. Although, in order to take on those creatures with the most effectiveness, you’ll need the best bow and arrow combination.
In a previous article, we detailed that the Draugr Fang bow is the best weapon for archers in Valheim. However, we didn’t disclose what the best arrows are, which is exactly what we’re going to do today.

As you progress through Valheim, more and more arrows will become available to you. Almost all are unlocked by simply finding new resources out in the world.
For example, the Frost Arrows are unlocked through killing Drakes and picking up Freeze Gland. If you’ve yet to take on Bonemass, the third boss, we recommend making as many Frost Arrows as possible.
While you will find a plethora of arrow types in your travels, it’s hard to decipher which is the best to equip your character with. There are options like Ironhead Arrows, Poison Arrows and more. The one you’re specifically looking for, though, is the Needle Arrows.

Needle Arrows are the best all-around choice for your bow in Valheim. Dealing piercing damage of 62, these arrows will end encounters with creatures in a flash. While both Frost and Poison Arrows deal more total damage, this happens slowly over time. Needle Arrows deal instant damage so you can end fights in a hurry.

To unlock Needle Arrows, you need to find the Plains biome and start taking down Deathsquitos. These critters will sometimes drop Needles, which will unlock the recipe for the Arrows. You’ll need four Needles and two Feathers to make 20 Needle Arrows, so you better start hunting Deathsquitos.
