The Hearth & Home update for Valheim is finally here, along with an abundance of new content and features, including new mechanics, furniture, building pieces, food, weapons, optimizations and much more.
When it comes to new weapons, you can now battle your foes with the Silver knife or Crystal Battleaxe. In order not to incur too much damage, you now have two brand-new shields at your disposal: the Bone tower shield and the Iron buckler!
The Bone tower shield is a new variant of the tower shield, joining the Wood tower shield, Iron tower shield, and Black metal tower shield. It's a pretty decent option, which we definitely recommend you to try. Here's how you can get it.
How to make the Bone tower shield in Valheim
Similarly to all other items in Valheim, you can get the Bone tower shield by crafting it. Before doing so, you first need to obtain the required ingredients in order to craft the item.
In order to craft a Bone Tower Shield, you will need the following materials:
- 10 Bone Fragments
- 3 Skeleton Trophies
- 10 Wood
In addition to these materials, you will also need a level 3 (or above) workbench.
Getting the required materials is rather easy. Wood is a basic resource you can find anywhere in Valheim simply by chopping down trees, while Bone Fragments and Skeleton Trophies can be obtained by killing skeletons.
Skeletons can be found near Evil bone piles, which spawn Skeletons in the Meadows and Black Forest biomes, or anywhere in the swamp biome. Each dead Skeleton will drop a Bone Fragment but Skeleton Trophies are dropped sporadically (i.e. they have a drop rate of 10%) since they are rare drops from the Skeletons.
