The galaxy far, far away has featured characters who have appeared across multiple media platforms during various eras within the Star Wars timeline. The events of the upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars Outlaws will occur during the Age Of Rebellion period, between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of Jedi.
The game will introduce more characters who have existed during this period in Star Wars as it explores an area that hasn't been seen often, the criminal underworld, through the eyes of its protagonist, Kay Vess. This guide will help players get acquainted with the characters appearing and the voice actors who will provide their vocal talents to these characters in Star Wars Outlaws.
Star Wars Outlaws Casting: All Confirmed Characters & Voice Actors
Following the game's official reveal during the Xbox Showcase and subsequent Ubisoft Forward presentations during the Summer Game Fest 2023, Ubisoft rolled out the credits to introduce the motley crew of characters that will inhabit the game's settings in Star Wars Outlaws. While plenty more characters are to be announced and voice actors confirmed, we only know of the core characters that appeared in the game's trailers.
These characters will be heavily seen throughout Kay's adventures in the galaxy far, far away, and play an integral role in aiding the character to secure her freedom from the criminal underworld. Let's meet the characters and the voice actors behind them that players get to meet in Star Wars Outlaws:
Kay Vess
Venuzulean-Canadian actress Humberly González was one of the first voice actors to confirm their involvement in Star Wars Outlaws. Her portrayal of the protagonist, Kay Vess, a cunning scoundrel who has been utilizing her skills to survive the current state of the galaxy ruled by the Galactic Empire cat, catches Sliro's attention.
González has appeared in several notable projects across film and television, including Nobody, Orphan Black, and the upcoming Star Trek series Section 31. She has also contributed her vocal talents to a few gaming releases, including Far Cry 6 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Nix & Jabba The Hutt
The most recognizable name on the casting bill is legendary voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, who has voiced multiple Star Wars properties across numerous media forms, including film, television, and video games. Most notably in Star Wars: The Clone Wars film as Captain Rex and Star Wars Rebels, and most members of Clone Force 99 (The Bad Batch) in the animated series The Bad Batch.
Other notable roles he has voiced in his astounding career include credits in SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Space Jam, and The Boxtrolls. Baker will take on another Star Wars character as Kay's adorable, loyal companion, Nix, and will also provide the voice for Jabba the Hutt.
Sliro
Ubisoft has confirmed that Irish actor Caolan Byrne will voice Star Wars Outlaws' antagonist, Sliro. Like his fellow costars, Byrne has appeared in film and television, including Dead Shot, Doctor Who, Chornobyl, The Miniaturist, and The Foreigner.
Sliro is the leader of the Zerek Besh crime syndicate during the events of Star Wars Outlaws, who possess great wealth and power. However, he gets entangled with Kay and subsequently puts out a hit on the protagonist, which players will unravel throughout the gameplay campaign.
Jaylen
As the associate of Kay, Jaylen Vrax grants her mission to "rob" the "fortunes of the Zerek Besh crime syndicate's leader, Sliro, as he had put out a hit on her. The Story trailer may have alluded that there may be other reasons why he wants the Zerek Besh or the downfall of its leader, the charismatic voice of Jaylen is voiced by Eric Johnson.
According to an interview with Massive Entertainment's creative director Julian Gerighty, Jaylen is somewhat of a "mentor" to Kay, and as such, giving her this mission will "put her talents to work. He's a little bit down on his luck, but he sees an opportunity not only to teach but to profit from his relationship with Kay," Gerighty said.
ND-5
With every Star Wars property released, there must be a droid, and the game has one in Star Wars Outlaws. A battle-tested BX-series droid, ND-5, has been featured in a few trailers since the game's announcement, and Jay Rincon will bring it to life.
Rincon has appeared in prominent film, television, and video game projects in his career, including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Beekeeper, Dead Island 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. As ND-5, the droid was created by a Confederate organization, the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) and was deployed for active duty during The Clone Wars and is now acting as an enforcement droid that Kay will meet.
Vail
Vail is an original character developed by Massive Entertainment and Lucasfilm for Star Wars Outlaws. This character is a bounty hunter hired by Sliro who is considered to "be the best in the Outer Rim" and is portrayed by multi-disciplinary artist Mercedes Morris.
The Canadian artist has had roles in Slasher, What We Do in the Shadows, and American Gods and voiced Talia Benavidez in the Far Cry podcast Rise of the Revolution. She also provided motion capture for the Ubisoft game Watch Dogs: Legion, which was released in 2020.
