Slender: The Arrival's upcoming 10th-anniversary update now has an official release date: 18 October 2023, just in time for the Halloween season. Blue Isle Studio's revitalization of Slender: The Arrival features new graphics through Unreal Engine, countless gameplay updates, and new story components including a brand new chapter.
Developers promise that the chapter and visual updates render "every shadow, every material and every hair-raising encounter with the mysterious Slender Man" using Unreal Engine 5 to achieve "stunning detail." Meanwhile, Slender: The Arrival's new chapter will delve into the nightmares of Charlie Matheson's father.
The update is now available for pre-order on Xbox Series X/S as of 1 September 2023, for $19.99. It'll be available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 consoles on 19 September. For all pre-order purchases, Blue Isle Studios will offer a free copy of Valley.
“It’s been 10 years since the original launch and we’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to improve and add to the game,” said Alex Tintor, co-founder and lead designer at Blue Isle Studios, in a press release. “There are many more Slender Man stories to tell, and we cannot wait to deliver on these experiences.”
The long-awaited update to Slender: The Arrival comes at a time that's a sort of renaissance for older horror games - especially those in the survival horror genre - given the upcoming Silent Hill 2 reboot and already-successful Resident Evil 4 remake.
