Rocket League Sideswipe has been described as the Smash Bros of car soccer and there’s no better way to put it. With flashy animations and fast-paced matches, the Psyonix title now fits in your pocket and it’s everything you’ve ever wanted and more.
With its own Battle Pass, different standard maps and high-octane action, it’s even more impressive to learn that the developers introduced new mechanics while also transitioning the game from 3D to 2D.
These can be intimidating for old players and just part of the game for new users so fret not, fellow rocketeer, as here’s everything we know about one of these new mechanics, the critical hit, in Rocket League Sideswipe.
Critical hit in Sideswipe
To get a critical hit in Rocket League Sideswipe, you will need to jump and flip onto the ball within a considerable distance to touch the ball into a critical hit. This critical hit can be identified by the pink and blue sparkles flying off the ball.
Best uses of critical hits in Rocket League Sideswipe
Not only will they catch your opponents off guard, but critical hits will be your best friends when trying to clear the ball out of harm’s way if things get too frantic in front of your own net.
The pink and blue glow will also be an indication of a speedy ball so beware when your screen lights up with these colours and you are not in control of the situation.
Lastly, critical hits are the quintessential touch to get the ball quickly to your teammates for in-field passing plays in Doubles. Because of its power, beware of not giving away possession too easily so get back in Free Play to get that distance and touch in your muscle memory ASAP!
