Pokémon Scarlet And Violet - New Trailer Reveals New Characters, Pokémon, And Gym Battles
With the reveal of the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, it's been cemented that the ninth generation of the popular franchise will be taking its game in a different direction than players are used to. The world of Paldea allows for open world exploration, and introduces new and returning Pokémon to the series, but the most fundamental change is the direction that players can take during their adventure.
The game, as shown in the trailer, has three different paths that players can take, and thanks to the open-world gameplay mechanics, players are free to choose whichever path they prefer to take on at any time. The first is the traditional Victory Road path, allowing players to face off against various gym leaders from around the region to earn badges and eventually achieve Champion Rank.
Along this path, and the others, players can meet some of the new characters in the game such as Geeta, the chairwoman of the Pokémon League, as well as the Grass gym leader Brassius of Artazon Gym. As you do this, you will also have run-ins with your mentor and rival Nemona as is the tradition in Pokémon games.

The second route you can take is through Starfall Street, which pits you against Team Star, which the trailer describes as a group of rebellious students causing trouble at school. Team Star, like previous groups such as Team Aqua, Skull, and even Rocket, has its look and style.
After dealing with enough grunts, players can take on bosses who ride on top of a massive vehicle called the Starmobile, which is decked out with neon lights, flags, and other decorations. Finally, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players will have the opportunity to face Mela, the boss of the Team Star Fire Crew.
Finally, players can explore the Path of Legends with an upperclassman named Arven in search of rare ingredients such as the Herba Mystica. These cooking ingredients appear to be most commonly found within Titan lairs, pitting players and Arven against massive Pokémon such as the Stony Cliff Titan known as a Klawf.
Aside from the massive crab, the trailer also features several new and previously revealed Pokémon, such as Smoliv, as well as hints at even more new ones, such as Armarouge and Ceruledge.
Nintendo recently confirmed on their official website that the Ghost/Fire type Ceruledge and Fire/Psychic Armarouge are indeed Violet and Scarlet exclusives, and require players to find a way to trade with a friend to claim them in their respective versions.
