Can Mega Alakazam Be Shiny In Mega Raid For Pokémon GO?

Pokémon GO is celebrating the Season of Light with several exciting limited-time events for Trainers to look forward to. One of these events is the return of the Psychic Spectacular event, centered around the Psychic-type with plenty featured in various Raids.

The Mega Alakazam is the featured Psychic Pokémon for this event, but will there be a chance to cross paths with its Shiny form? This guide details if a Shiny Mega Alakazam is available in Pokémon GO and how to catch it.

Shiny Mega Alakazam In Pokémon GO?

As one would expect, indeed, there will be a Shiny Mega Alakazam available momentarily in Pokémon GO. As the Mega Alakazam is making its debut in-game for the Psychic Spectacular event, as the name suggests, it will be the featured Pokémon in the Mega Raid for this event.

They’ll likely get a chance to encounter a Shiny Mega Alakazam throughout the event; this specific Raid will commence when the event begins on 6th September 2022 at 10 am local time. They’ll have until the end of the Psychic Spectacular event, on 12th September 2022 at 8 pm local time, to defeat and catch the Psychic-type Pokémon.

Defeating the Mega Alakazam or a Shiny Mega Alakazam can be achieved by having a Legendary Pokémon in their Battle Party or Mega Evolving any Pokémon that can counter its Psychic attacks. Once they’ve defeated Mega Alakazam in the Mega Raid, they’ll also receive Mega Energy as a reward, alongside the chance to catch the Psychic-type Pokémon.

Depending on how fast they’re able to defeat the Mega Raid Boss reflects the amount of Mega Energy they’ll earn. This is highlighted in the Raid summary by looking at the Speed stat, which indicates how much Mega Energy they’ve received.

After defeating Mega Alakazam, it will revert its Mega Evolution before it can encounter it. Still, if they wish to Mega Evolve Alakazam, they’ll need to use Mega Energy to achieve this temporary evolution.

It’s worth noting that they’ll need to have acquired enough Mega Energy to evolve Alakazam to Mega Alakazam before using them in Raid encounters. As the Mega Evolution is only a temporary state, it will last around eight hours and will not affect Alakazam’s hit points (HP).

The Mega Alakazam and its Shiny form will appear in Mega Raids for the Psychic Spectacular event from 6th-12th September 2022 in Pokémon GO.
